[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to Shonen Flop Chibi, First Impressions mini episode where we talk about the first chapter of the series we'll be covering in depth next week with our guest, Tri-Attack Zack.
[00:00:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, very iconic Pokemon move.
[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Right, that you think would be like three types but they can't really code that correctly so it's just a normal move.
[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_02]: It's great.
[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I'm Jordan and with me today as usual is my lovely co-host David. Say hi David.
[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Hi David.
[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_01]: What series we're covering this week David?
[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh man, this is a one that doesn't have a lot of heart but it does have a lot of wizard soul.
[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Haha.
[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, oh, that's actually I think that the spell class in class in D&D I've played the least.
[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Hashtag bard life.
[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're a bard.
[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I bardy hard.
[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh man, but Jordan why don't you tell us a little bit about this series?
[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_02]: So this series is actually called Magic the Gathering but for yes, for copyright reasons it has to be called Wizards.
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_02]: What was it in Yu-Gi-Oh Magic and Wizards or something?
[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh man, I don't know but it is called Wizards soul but as you'll see it's Magic the Gathering.
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_02]: This is written by Aki and then there's like a little star symbol, Eta.
[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And it ran from July 5th, 2013 to July 4th, 2015. Happy birthday America.
[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Woo.
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We did invent card games so it makes sense.
[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Did we?
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, TCG's yeah, Magic the Gathering was the first TCG.
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_01]: It's actually they copyrighted the term TCG and that's why other trading card games say collectible card games.
[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I was gonna say I'm pretty sure America didn't invent the card game just as a card game.
[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I still remember I'd never felt smarter in my life when we read tricks dedicated to witches and the one guy shows a Joker card and I was like wait,
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Jokers didn't exist in decks at that time period and that actually was a clue that the guy was also a time traveler.
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Which also showed that that series was written really well that the author also knew that.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_02]: That was a good fucking series.
[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, this ran for 22 chapters or volumes.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I also I think it was your talker Max and B said it very explicitly the star always has to be filled out.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It is considered a misspelling of their name.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_01]: If you don't use a filled in star icon for that name.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God.
[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Hell yeah.
[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not as angry at that as I was about standards.
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Pretty cool.
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So sure what happened in this first chapter?
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_02]: The entire world is run by Magic the Gathering.
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_02]: It's called Wizard Soul for copyright reasons, but it's Magic the Gathering David.
[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_02]: It is Magic the Gathering.
[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_01]: They even use the colors of magic.
[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_02]: They're like, oh man, she she's a classic blue green deck player like it's Magic the Gathering.
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Monica works at a game shop where she regularly loses to elementary school players and hangs out with Sakurai, a skilled player with 1500 plus duelist points.
[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_02]: It was a pretty big brush on her.
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Just these guys.
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_02]: He's big in the DP.
[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, he's big in the DP and he's into WS.
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_02]: David.
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_02]: One day when Monica goes home, her unemployed father says he spent all of their money on a rare card scam.
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Fucking boomers, man.
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Are Japanese boomers called boomers?
[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Because I think the baby boom was an American thing.
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, they're now millions of yen in debt.
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So Monica has to figure out how to make that money back.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I love how given how absolute dog shit exchange rate, a million yen is like twenty seven dollars right now.
[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_01]: It is actually like the worst exchange rate the country has had in like thirty seven years.
[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Jesus.
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's like a hundred yen is worth like sixty five cents.
[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_01]: God.
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, yeah, it's a really great time to go to Japan if you have a means.
[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, she decides to join a big WS tournament.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: But to do that, she needs at least fifteen hundred DP.
[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So she challenges Sakurai, who's I guess done working on Smash Bros for a minute.
[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_01]: If she wins, she gets all his points.
[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And if he wins, she'll do anything he wants.
[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_01]: What she views is a confession of love.
[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately for him, Monica uses a permission deck, which fucking sucks to play against.
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I know that firsthand.
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: It makes all your friends hate you, but it's very strong.
[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: She defeats him and he's angry at how she won.
[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So he leaves in a huff.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_01]: They both leave the store depressed because they each secretly liked the other one end of chapter one.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Or should I say end of turn one?
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Fucking blue white decks, right?
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, honestly, though, the worst, though, is stacks decks using smoke sacks, train orb.
[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: God, I have a friend who does that shit.
[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I still remember.
[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Fuck you, Paul.
[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: When I was playing a graveyard deck, I was using a graveyard based commander and played rest in peace.
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Turn two.
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Fuck you, Paul, for doing that.
[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I love the guy.
[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_02]: David, what's what colors do you play?
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually have a deck of every color.
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So people are wondering my four main commanders are I have.
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_01]: David is so progressive.
[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I am.
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So I have an AC deck, which is green blue.
[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I have a mono red Krenko, but not the overpowered Krenko, the Vatron Krenko.
[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I have a black white aristocrat deck with the first Tasia.
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I've recently built a band arcadey second.
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Those are my four commanders.
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I've been throwing around a couple terms, and that's because Steph has played a lot of Magic the Gathering.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's fun.
[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know much about Magic the Gathering.
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_02]: I actually have played MTG Arena a couple of times.
[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I've learned how to play Magic like four or five times.
[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I've just forgotten like the next day, almost immediately.
[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: That's actually one of my chibi guesses that you'll see later about that.
[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I know.
[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Here's the thing.
[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not a difficult game to learn.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I know that.
[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_02]: But because I didn't learn it when I was a kid, I just forget it.
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And I played Hearthstone.
[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I played a ton of games that are very clearly inspired by Magic.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_02]: But you used to play Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_02]: That's how we met.
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to say I know how Yu-Gi-Oh! works.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I know how Yu-Gi-Oh! worked in like 2004.
[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a completely different game now.
[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I asked her if she could tell me about like the colors.
[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And I mentioned what this permission deck does.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, oh, if you play blue white, fuck you.
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: She plays black green.
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there we go.
[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Gulgari.
[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good combination.
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, Jordan, we probably should talk about this manga.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I do want to say, as I talked about, I am always, I always think it's fun when
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: a series has fun names for their chapters.
[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Like Tensuki Cinema said it was like scene one.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Sakamoto Days has days one, which I always think even though grammatically doesn't make
[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_01]: sense.
[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess I just so it's like days.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think it's really just fun when they do that.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And it just shows like a little extra detail.
[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_01]: That's just fun for the series.
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So that map in the beginning, I couldn't tell.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it like a weird geography?
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's like Hunter Hunter where it kind of looks like Earth, but not.
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Or is it just that was just a really zoomed in view of Japan at a weird angle?
[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it was Japan.
[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_01]: OK, I don't get why it was tilted like 80 degrees.
[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, David, the direction we view the map is arbitrary.
[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_02]: North doesn't have to be up.
[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_02]: We just we've just decided that it's true in that you can flip them 180 degrees.
[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You cannot arbitrarily rotate it 60 degrees.
[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's weird to do that.
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_01]: You can.
[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You can't.
[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: But then it also means things like the polls don't work like the polls have to be at the
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_01]: top and the bottom of the map.
[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Unless you want to argue that the polls are on the side.
[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, it's space.
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, you can't arbitrarily rotate it 60 degrees like they did at the map on the first
[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_01]: page.
[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess you can.
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just really fucking weird.
[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Why would you do that?
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm pretty sure it's illegal.
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's honestly, I bet that's why this is good.
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Canceled.
[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I do think it's illegal in Japan.
[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_01]: That is true.
[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So as we talk about this series, though, I feel the art is OK.
[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It feels off.
[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_01]: You could tell the offer spent more time drawing certain panels than others, which is weird
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_01]: for a first chapter.
[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Like some of the characters are kind of sketchy and then some of our refined and just honestly,
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_01]: it feels like sometimes maybe he just or sorry.
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: She I actually think offers a woman if I do recall based on a comment someone made.
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's felt like she had her assistants pitching in more than usual.
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And the art style felt a little inconsistent because of that.
[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not surprised really to learn that it's a woman just because this series doesn't feel
[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: super shown in.
[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, that's kind of stereotyping.
[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Of course, women can write shown in manga.
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, you know, well, according to shown in jump editors, they cannot do that.
[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, no, I mean, this series.
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the art is kind of off.
[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not great.
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like the kind of series this is, though, it's not the biggest deal because, again,
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_02]: it's not like a super fighting series.
[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of a little bit more of a romance, at least in the first chapter.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_02]: One thing that stood out to me, I was kind of like, so are we not going to see the actual
[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_02]: game being played like you see the game being played?
[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_02]: But it's not like Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Where you see the actual cards like you get a play by play of the card game.
[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Really, it's just kind of like like we said, oh, she's doing a permission deck and she's
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_02]: making all those cards bounce back and he's getting annoyed.
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of a summary of what's going on.
[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I guess if they showed you the actual cards, they would get arrested.
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_02]: They would get arrested for copyright or they get fined or some shit.
[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So actually, you can't copyright game mechanics.
[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, not game mechanics, but if they showed the actual cards, it'd be like, oh, these are
[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_02]: literally magic cards because it's literally matching the gathering.
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they'd have like a they'd have like a gray lotus and shit.
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Japan also is very relaxed.
[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it is very weird.
[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I do wonder if this was originally pitched as a magic gathering manga and then they didn't
[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_01]: get the rights to it.
[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So they very hastily had to create something.
[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess.
[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it does seem like this isn't going to be so much about the game as the people.
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of like comparing Double Taisei to Yu-Gi-Oh, where like Double Taisei didn't
[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_01]: really care about Shogi.
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_01]: They just wanted to talk about what it's like to play Shogi, if that makes sense.
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Versus like Hikaru no Go.
[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Where that was like you really, really understood how Go worked by reading that manga.
[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I ever we learned the rules of Shogi reading Double Taisei.
[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I certainly don't know how Shogi works after reading Double Taisei.
[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I kind of know how Go works after reading a little bit of Karu no Go.
[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like this strange thing where I feel like the author was trying to set it simultaneously
[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_02]: in a fantasy world and the real world.
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Because it's like it's a fantasy world in the sense that everything is run by Magic the
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Gathering, which I'm just I'm just going to call it Magic the Gathering.
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to call it Wizard Soul for the record.
[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_02]: But it's also like it doesn't feel in the same way that like Yu-Gi-Oh, everything is
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_02]: run by a card game.
[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_02]: It really just feels like these are normal people.
[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just that everything the world is controlled by Magic the Gathering.
[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's just crazy Yu-Gi-Oh rules.
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_02]: It's more subdued Yu-Gi-Oh rules.
[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, it has like a vibe closer to Hikaru no Go.
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is like actually more intense because the actual like entire like social economic
[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_01]: framework is very explicitly hard coded to be your success in this system.
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like there is like your economic success.
[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Unlike Yu-Gi-Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh just kind of increased over time.
[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_01]: This is like hitting the ground running where the entire world literally revolves around
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_01]: this card game.
[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like reading this manga, you're going to learn more about sort of the meta game
[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_02]: or like the overall play styles versus like actually, you know, how to play the game.
[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I mean, she plays a permission deck.
[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just really think it's funny that it's like she played the deck that all your
[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_02]: friends fucking hate.
[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which actually was originally called the deck.
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_01]: The deck.
[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_01]: It's literally the like the very first permission deck was just called the deck and it essentially
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: shut the game down and one with Sarah Angel because that was really the first ever like
[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_01]: really strongly constructed control deck ever made.
[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Is this actually like called a control deck?
[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_02]: What do you mean?
[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like, would you call it a permission deck?
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a permission is a control deck.
[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, there's different types of permission.
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Like there's I mean, permission, draw, go control are all kind of very similar in concept.
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I just asked because I've heard of a control deck.
[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I've never heard of a permission deck.
[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Essentially, in Magic the Gathering, there's a few primary types of deck types.
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Essentially, there's control, aggro and combo are essentially the big three.
[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And then those can be broken down.
[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And then there's stuff like mid range.
[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Then there's burn.
[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: There's ramp, which are different types.
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_01]: But essentially, that's the big three is control, aggro combo.
[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you like to play?
[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Generally, combo in multiplayer formats is not considered like very sportsman because
[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_01]: essentially you're just kind of solitaire and then you win without interacting.
[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, aggro is considered fair magic.
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_01]: People say as Richard intended where you just turn creature sideways and when doing that
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and let people actually play their stuff.
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: It just means that you play you outplayed them playing the same game for lack of a better term,
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: while control is making that your opponent doesn't feel like they really got to play their deck.
[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_02]: My understanding of modern Yu-Gi-Oh is that it's mostly like control decks at this point.
[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_01]: All I know is Yu-Gi-Oh is like a three turn format.
[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Games are very fast because they're fast in number of turns because everybody has like OTKs
[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_02]: and FTKs and shit like that.
[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's it's an absurd.
[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Apparently it's just like mutated into some weird thing where it's like it's technically three turns,
[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_01]: but still those three turns can easily last 25 minutes.
[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just remember everybody who's interested should look up the video where like a guy recently
[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_02]: won a game at a tournament using Exodia and it like shocked everybody, but it was fucking awesome.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like we should probably talk about this manga more though, Jordan.
[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Is there much more to say about this month?
[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's like weird.
[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I thought this was first just like a fun slice of life.
[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I saw the black text bubbles, which, you know, nothing good is ever going to happen
[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: when you see black text bubbles in a manga.
[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's like, wow, this seems fun.
[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And I said, wow, it got really depressing.
[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Also, the this match had a lot on the line, but he didn't side deck, which I thought was
[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_01]: weird because it's like he just kind of, I guess, raw dogs the entire match, which is
[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_01]: not a good idea.
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what side decking means.
[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Why side decking is in magic, which I assume this game does as well as in an official tournament
[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: match.
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You have 15 additional cards.
[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: You can rotate between your main deck and your side deck.
[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So it means so that there are cards like say Steph, you said say plays Golgari that uses
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_01]: the graveyard, which is where cards go usually when they're used up.
[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And so there are cards in certain colors.
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So as my story, the card rest in peace literally says no one has a graveyard anymore.
[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Ah, and you would not play that unless you were playing a deck that actually cared about
[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: what was in their graveyard.
[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So if your first match, you may lose to a graveyard strategy, but then you can play cards that
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: optimize against it because obviously you wouldn't play that.
[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_01]: That card is useless against the non graveyard deck, but against the graveyard deck, it's
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_01]: extremely powerful.
[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_01]: So you would have that in your side deck.
[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So basically a side deck allows you to adjust your deck like in between games.
[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's cool.
[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So like versus control deck, you don't care about creature destruction.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_01]: They're probably not going to have creatures on the field.
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So you want to do stuff like play cards that maybe can't be countered, can't be discarded,
[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_01]: can't be targeted or like haste creatures that let you set your clock to a faster speed to
[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_01]: ideally go under them.
[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_02]: If you're playing an aggressive deck, it seems like maybe his side deck just wasn't set up
[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_02]: to deal with this because he just assumed nobody's going to be this big of a fucking
[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_02]: asshole to play this type of deck.
[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_01]: It is just funny how you never actually side deck.
[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_02]: That said, I think it's really interesting how she goes this route because it's kind of like,
[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_02]: nah, man, she's playing a win.
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_02]: This isn't a joke for her.
[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_02]: She's not doing this to have fun.
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_02]: She needs the fucking prize money.
[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_02]: So she's going to play the annoying, boring asshole deck to play against because she's
[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_02]: here to fucking win.
[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Jordan, though, are you here to win it by reading in our 10 chapters of this?
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I am.
[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, me too.
[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I fuck.
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to finish this.
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to say I just want to say also what fun magic gathering references they make.
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Jordan, what do you think will happen next?
[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that Sakurai and Monica eventually get together at the end.
[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you know, because he will learn why she's playing and I'll be like, oh, OK, OK.
[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_02]: That's cute.
[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that Monica gets a really bad reputation at the tournament and people fucking hate her.
[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that bitch.
[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think the end is a flash forward to her being a famous magic player.
[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_02]: You always we always guess that.
[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_01]: How about you?
[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_01]: We're right sometimes.
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: As we alluded to mine is I'm going to recommend Jordan play magic gathering arena so he can learn the rules to magic, which he will not do.
[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Or will he now?
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Because it means I won't get a point if he does or does he?
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to find out my actual guess, though, as Monica's dad keeps making everything worse.
[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And she has to play a high stakes game to get him out of a really bad situation where it might be like a kanji thing where it's like they cut off her hand or something like some like fucked up death game, you know?
[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Next Monica's mother was a great card player and she finds out she inherited her will.
[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And the main bad guy is going to play a black deck.
[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it'll be the opposite.
[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_01]: They have some nice appearance and they're like, oh, what a sweet guy.
[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he pulls out a bunch of swamps.
[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, oh, shit.
[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Fun fact that actually the most recent magic set is based on Redwall and it's about fun animal creatures.
[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, shit.
[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It's called offspring where you can make little baby versions of your creatures.
[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and a common thing for black is they sacrifice creatures, you know, for effects.
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And they were like, oh, we had to remove this mechanic because we realized the implications.
[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Most often you would be sacrificing your children for these cards.
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_01]: So they were like, oh, yeah, this like mechanically is fine.
[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_01]: But it just doesn't feel good that I'm like, I make a little baby squirrel.
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm going to sacrifice it.
[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So I just thought that's really funny.
[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_01]: That is.
[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Jordan, what's your power word?
[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Draw because, you know, David, this series is drawn and they drawn cards.
[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I can respect that.
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Jordan, what's my power word?
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Final deep.
[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought I just put in I put in white text.
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't have to highlight it.
[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, except I read this in dark mode.
[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_01]: God damn it.
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I tried.
[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_02]: You tried.
[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So, David, you want to you want to remind the listeners who haven't heard this before?
[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Why you had it like what the fuck final deep is and why it's funny.
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So final deep is Jordan.
[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I once tried making a card game and we tried to come up with really stupid names for expansion
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_01]: packs and that was really the best.
[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we did a patron reading where we came up with Yu-Gi-Oh style TCG.
[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I think the best one on that one was reconnaissance of destiny was also up there.
[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that was our favorite from when we did that.
[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we were trying to come up with Yu-Gi-Oh like card expansions that sound like Yu-Gi-Oh
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_02]: would have because a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh card expansions are just like charging victory and shit like that.
[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_02]: That really means nothing when you think about it.
[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_02]: So final deep is amazing.
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, else is amazing is our wonderful people who ask us questions on the show and flop discord as a reminder.
[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_01]: You can ask them and find a link to our discord on our website shown flop dot com or in the show notes.
[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Get priority of those who haven't asked a question before.
[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Haven't had a question in a long time or patrons starting with from ZZ Digital.
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_01]: If you could pilot a large robot, how big would your robot be ideally?
[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh man, this is a this is a really good question actually because it's like I don't think that's a good question.
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I think I'd want to have it like gunbuster size and by gunbuster size, I mean the size of the fucking planet.
[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Or like Gurren Lagann, like the final one size, which is bigger than the entire universe because you can really do anything with it.
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_02]: But like you still want a big one because it's cool, right?
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like a 50 foot range is that where it's like you could realistically store it somewhere.
[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But it can like do fun thing around the size of a moderately sized skyscraper.
[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I would say.
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, OK.
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: So like more because 50, 60 feet is like six story building.
[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_01]: So you want one that's like hundreds of feet tall.
[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, I think you're right now.
[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I would say I would say like 100 feet, 100 foot robot, maybe big O size, big O size, you know?
[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh man, that was a great series.
[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_02]: God, big O was so cool.
[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_02]: That's like the only giant robot show I've seen where it's like they actually like walk like how giant robots might actually walk.
[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_02]: They feel heavy as fuck.
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Next up from Aussie rap mountains or ocean.
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I love the mountains.
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't like the beach.
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't like being on the sun.
[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually went to New Hampshire last week or two weeks ago.
[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_01]: So that was really nice to get to be in the mountains.
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_01]: How about you, Jordan?
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Man, sometimes I just want to get on a boat, go out to the middle of the ocean, just kind of chill.
[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_02]: But I can't do that.
[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_02]: But I went on a boat one time and I was like, man, this is great.
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I still love how our last patron reading was what kind of boat would you be?
[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Or what kind of boat would you have?
[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Next up from Resident Warhammer nerd.
[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_01]: If you were a new magic card, what creature type would you be slash what would you want to do?
[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So what creature type would you be, Jordan?
[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I'd be the coolest type.
[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You'd be a what?
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The coolest type.
[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know.
[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I put these questions to fuck with Jordan because we had all this Mega Man questions.
[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_02]: The magic card one is for you.
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_02]: The get a robo question is for me.
[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_01]: OK, that's why I did that.
[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I put some questions in for you.
[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: This is for you.
[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_01]: This is for you.
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Fucking beat you to it.
[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I guess I would be a human.
[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Humans are great creatures.
[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess.
[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what kind of creature I would want to be.
[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually do design some custom magic.
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Magic.
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I had one that was a bit of a popular one where the most recent set you can give gifts to people.
[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's like gift of fish, gift of card.
[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I made one that was like a murder variant that you gifted a clue which destroyed the creature if you gave a gift.
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise, it just damaged the creature.
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's not really, really the question.
[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I just thought that was a clever design I thought of.
[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So you can find that on the custom magic subreddit though.
[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I fucked up the reminder text.
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Jordan assign a magic gathering color to whatever you most recently read.
[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So Jordan for the manga we had just read last week.
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_01]: What would you say?
[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_01]: What colors would you assign it?
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_02]: What's the most forgettable magic color?
[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I think green is a little lamest.
[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Then it's green because I don't remember shit.
[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll say Yamato against two keys.
[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a very green mug.
[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yeah.
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Understandable.
[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Have a nice day.
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Next up.
[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's an edelon.
[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So Jordan, this one is explicitly for you.
[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's an edelon of rebels on the field.
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_01]: You're at two life and your opponents at four with a lightning helix, a lightning bolt in hand, a healer's hawk on your side and three open mana.
[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Assume no interaction of your opponent.
[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_01]: They are tapped out zero cards in hand.
[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you do on your turn to win Jordan?
[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and that's from Meru.
[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So lightning bolt is a really good noise rock band that I saw live and the drummer pulled me on stage.
[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_02]: It was awesome.
[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And kiss too.
[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, obviously David, I would, so I would sacrifice them and summon a summon skull and he would do like, what, what is that?
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Like white lighting.
[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_02]: What the fuck was that?
[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't fucking know.
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, yeah, he did.
[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_02]: He did attack the enemies.
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Light points directly.
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man.
[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually answered this one in the discord.
[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So people can see my answer there.
[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Or actually, I guess real quick, you attack with healer's hawk to bring yourself up to four life and then you lightning bolt them taking two from your own edelon.
[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_01]: But you survive it while bringing your opponent down to zero.
[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Next up from ZZ digital, because whoops, I forgot they changed their name.
[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So they're getting two questions this week.
[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Jordan, what's your favorite get a robo set in team?
[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And I have zero idea how to answer this question.
[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's how that's how it goes.
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_02]: All right.
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_02]: So I thought about this and like, I'm assuming get a robo set.
[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_02]: You're talking about series.
[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So I've read four of the get a robo series.
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I've read get a robo, get a robo, G, uh, get a robo, go.
[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And get a robo takes Manhattan.
[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, she ain't get a robo, but yeah, exactly.
[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's hard for me to argue that get a robo go isn't the best one.
[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_02]: It's really good.
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought about this.
[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_02]: It's gotta be the first one.
[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_02]: It's gotta be Ryoma, Hayato and Musashi.
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I was thinking maybe Hayato, uh, Ryoma and Benkei.
[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_02]: But like Musashi is such a fucking king.
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I gotta have Musashi there, man.
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's my answer.
[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what anything you said meant, but I'm really excited that you had a fun question.
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Next up from T Wolfwood.
[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Have you guys started reading any of the newer jump series like Cougar, Baj, Cougar or News Exorcist?
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Cougar, Baj, Baj.
[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So we actually in our next mystery box are going to be going through the first chapter of Cougar Baj
[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: because it's officially too long for us to cover.
[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_01]: So we are going to finally do a piece of content on the hottest manga of the year.
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I hear that series is going to be the next one piece, David.
[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it already is.
[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I mean, here's the thing, guys.
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_02]: We can't read a manga until it's a certain number of chapters because it might end up on our show.
[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Unless it's like something so stupidly popular like Ruri Dragon.
[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like there's no question that's exceeding.
[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's why we were like, fuck Ruri Dragon is so good that if it gets canceled, I'm going to be pissed.
[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll still do something for Ruri.
[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's almost a zero percent unless the offer gets super sick again.
[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Zero percent chance that series getting canceled before 35 chapters.
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. And then finally, from Mr. Davey, what would you name an episode of Smiling Friends?
[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Where for those who don't know, most of the time the Smiling Friends title has nothing to do with the series.
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's with the episode itself, which is great.
[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So, Jordan, how about you? What would you just without actually say without any idea what the episode is about?
[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_01]: What would you just name an episode of Smiling Friends?
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Charlie gets his gun.
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Charlie gets his gun. I love it.
[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_01]: So I did make that joke, but I think the Smiling Friends takes Manhattan would be a great episode.
[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It would be a good one.
[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And they just get stuck in the airport at JFK again.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I also thought it would be great if there was an episode called This Episode is Written by Anthony Birch.
[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the name of the episode I write.
[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Because that just feels like such a Smiling Friends episode.
[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_01]: What's your favorite Smiling Friends episode title?
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's, um, fuck, what's out? Why am I spacing on his name? Not Charlie.
[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Pym?
[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The other main character?
[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Alan? Pym?
[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Pym. Yeah.
[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_01]: When it's Pym dies and doesn't come back.
[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's Charlie dies and doesn't come back.
[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it is Charlie dies. Yeah, I love Charlie dies and doesn't come back.
[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_01]: That actually is my favorite one too.
[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what happens.
[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It's such a fucking, because it's completely untrue.
[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's completely untrue.
[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's untrue. Spoiler alert.
[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_01]: All the title names of Smiling Friends are lies.
[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_02]: You also gotta respect Gwimbley Definitive Remastered Enhanced Extended Edition DX 4K Anniversary Director's Cut.
[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_02]: That's also a really good title.
[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_02]: And isn't also Pym turns green and that has nothing to do with that episode.
[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_02]: God, I love that show.
[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Or the Magical Red Jewel, AKA Tyler gets fired.
[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_02]: You remember when Tyler got fired?
[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yo dude, that was actually, Tyler did get fired in that episode, so that's a bad example.
[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but still, it's just like, I can't get over that they fired Tyler.
[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's such a shock.
[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_01]: God, I love it.
[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, alright, but that's just, I thought that was a really, I, as always, if I add a question, it doesn't actually count for a five-question count.
[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I added extra ones because I knew Jordan couldn't really answer some of these.
[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Heh heh.
[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So, this, I don't know, it was just a fun one.
[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, but yeah, Jordan, I wanna say thank you so much for all of your hard work on the show.
[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, David.
[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for all the hard work on the show as well.
[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_01]: No problem, babe.
[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Props to Shannon for the awesome cover art.

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_01]: No, we, did we worked, did we cover the guy who did Assassination Classroom or worked on Assass-
[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_01]: We've mentioned Assassination.
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I know I talked about the Lucid Samurai last week, so maybe that's why I'm thinking about him.
[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I think we did cover the first chapter of Assassination Classroom at some point for some reason.
[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why.
[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Sounds fair.
[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe I just read the first chapter.
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I think you did.
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think we've done content on it.
[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the most puzzling manga ever made.
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God, it is.
[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_02]: With, uh, Megan from Volume 1.
[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and we're actually about to go record part 2 in about 20 minutes.
[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, boy.
[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_01]: So it'll be a fun double feature.
[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Is part two any better?
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna have to listen to find out.
[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, boy.
[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And then also you get other exclusive pieces of content like early access to our episodes,

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_01]: including opening the mystery box where we have a fun piece of bonus content.
[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_01]: We've done things like talk about our record of Ragnarok roster.
[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_01]: We've reviewed Ruri Dragon.
[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, fuck.
[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_01]: What was our mystery box this month, Jordan?
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I honestly don't recall off the top of my head.
[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_01]: What did we do?
[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So we created our own one piece crew from Shonen Flop protagonists.
[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It's such a shocker who our sniper was.
[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And you can find that at patreon.com slash Shonen Flop.
[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And I want to read some of our wonderful patrons.
[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Starting with our dolphin dance, I want to say a place to appear so dirty so raw in bed all day.
[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_01]: So Sean, arch your back and point your toes.
[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Glornak and Rachel, my wonderful wife, she offered to buy me some cake yesterday,
[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_01]: but I'm trying to be good on my diet.
[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Then moving on down to the Ravioli tier where you get weekly pictures of Ravioli and actually relate to the series.
[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I will send you Ravioli magic.
[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_01]: The gathering goblin tokens.
[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_01]: She has a goblin dog.
[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Pretty good.
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Ravioli's fun fact is there's been a fly in her house and we just see her randomly watching the fly and then try and catch it.
[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: So you just see her randomly snap in the air.
[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And she always misses, but it's very cute to see her try.
[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_01]: We have Chris, Eva, Jeanette Davis, Lady T, Matt, Scarlett Mermanen, T, Tiffany, and Trevor.
[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Moving on down to the king of the forest.

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_01]: To ga, to ga, to ga.
[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I just saw Animal House yesterday.

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: God, maybe we should.
[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_01]: God, I just imagine our very last ever patron would say, what was your enemy out of context patron name?
[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, God, it's really just how many times do we say the word bussy?
[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_02]: That's really good, actually.
[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay.
[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_01]: We have to bring him on for that.
[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_02]: God.
[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Actually, they've done a patron reading for us, but it was a completely normal one.
[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, uh, yeah.
[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Jordan, anything you want to toss in?
[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, listen to Mission Ignition.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, if you're gonna watch, if you're considering watching the first two movies in the, uh, Grandmaster Saga by Matthew Barney, don't.
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, thank you so much for listening.
[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Tune in next Monday for our full episode of Wizard of Soul featuring Tri-Attack Zack.
[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_01]: This has been Jordan.
