[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so this is Hands and by that I mean Hand, apostrophe S.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_02]: By Eta Kura Yuriichi and it ran from October 2nd 2006 to December 4th 2006, 11 chapters.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Not only a single volume, this is quite the U19.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we had a tight turnaround. We're recording this on Wednesday and the main is on Saturday.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, the decent amount let's get into it. Touchy, barna digos, dad, juizo, fucking sucks.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_02]: He's riding his bike away from digo holding his son stolen piggy bank with the goal of gambling

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_02]: with it, pay off his gambling debts to the yakuza. That's a great way. Where have I seen this

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_02]: plop before? Oh, real life and very sad places. Aww.

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_02]: He throws the fucking piggy bank off a cliff though and digo jumps in to get it back. Although,

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_02]: juizo already took the money out and he fucking rides away.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And that was kind of funny. Yeah, I was. Apparently this is a manga about handball David.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you wouldn't know it though because then fucking play it in this juicer.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Handball. It's like Beast Children were. It took like six chapters of late rugby.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but at least they were like talking more about rugby. I think back at school.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Diogo talks about how fucking miserable his life is. You know, being a poor kid,

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_02]: we can barely afford food thanks to juizo's gambling because of this he wants to be a hero

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_02]: who helps people and is loved by everyone around him and can fly unlike his fucking dad.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Diogo goes home to find a note from his dad saying that he lost all the money, skip town

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_02]: and hey, Diogo to a specific place is something goes wrong. David would you believe this?

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Something does go wrong because the yakuza bursts through the door at that exact moment.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Popcorn David. We see a guy sitting out of gym with his daughter,

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Mizuki saying that a friend of his is sending a really good handball player to play with them.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Diogo is running from the yakuza when he comes upon Mizuki and takes her hostage,

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_01]: which stops the yakuza for a second for some reason.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: It's actually got a buddy. It's like hey, you took that girl hostage.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like wait and then someone's like dude, you don't have to care.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Right, Diogo takes her to a bridge and they talk a bit about how she's into handball.

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Diogo is addicted to her about it after already kidnapping her so she throws a rocket ahead

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and intentionally misses. Mizuki then kicks him into the water so the yakuza then

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: show up and take her hostage so that Diogo will show up to save her.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Diogo remembers when one time a hero showed up when he was hurt picked up and flew and he stands

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: on a truck as it drives next to the car. The yakuza in and he's in like a fucking

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: guy next like power pose. He is the guy next pose. Yes.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Diogo jumps into the car and makes him drive off a cliff.

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_01]: He jumps out of Mizuki and grabs onto the edge of it to survive.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Next they go to Mizuki's house where she learns that Diogo will be staying with them

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and she's not happy about that. Also don't worry that Yakuza guys somehow.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Survive because it's not that kind of manga where we have 11 year old handball players

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_02]: killing people. You know, they just drove off a fucking cliff plummeted like I don't know like 50 feet

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_02]: and land but they landed in water. It's like breath of the wild where like you can jump off from like

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_02]: thousands of feet in the air but as long as you land in like a body of water you're totally fine.

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean that's just how real life works too. That's true. That's true.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's why no one ever dies from airplane crashes over the sea. That's true.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. And that's a rock fact. I've actually got a rock fact tattoo on this trip.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. Did you notice that like it says this story is about somebody's dad and the dad is

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Digo? Yeah. That was interesting. I feel like this author doesn't quite know what he's doing with us.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like how I met your mother almost. Yeah. How am I met your baller?

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_01]: How am I met your baller? I've never actually seen that show.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen it like once anyway. It was worth of the color page also had a different art style than the rest of the manga.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It had this like no shading style that kind of reminded me of like summer wars and then it has a completely like more traditional art style for the rest of it.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So I was like, I just didn't get why that color page was drawn completely differently.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the art is fine. It's pretty good but it's nothing notable.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I feel like that's gonna be a criticism is this series.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I think is really going to have to be absolutely the double tysay of hand.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Ball if we actually want this to be something more fruiting.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean it seems to be pretty fucking crazy.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So something at the happen. Maybe he doubles the stakes every chapter. And then after they revealed that the moon is

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_01]: actually the biggest handball of all. It's like you can't go anywhere from that. Yeah.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: For he watch for there were no more balls to hand. God. Okay. Maybe we should make it.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_01]: This doesn't go double tysay will make our own AE version. God. It's like tricks dedicated to witches

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_02]: where it was actually very good. But he just decided to give up because he ran out of ideas.
