[00:00:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to Shonenflop, Jimmy! First impressions mini episode where we talk, but the first chapter of the series will be covering in-depth next week with our guest, Brendan Hull, the official series letterer, I'm assuming for this series.

[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Really? Yes.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm Jordan with me today as usual is my lovely co-host, David.

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Say hi, David. Hold on one second, Jordan.

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Hi, David.

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Whoa, David! That was quite a drive!

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Whoa, touchdown!

[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_03]: What series are you covering this week, David? Why the fuck did we just do that?

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_02]: We are covering Green Green Greens. GGG Baby Baby.

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah. And this is written by Terasaka Kento.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_03]: David, why does that name sound familiar?

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, isn't that one of the regions in Pokemon?

[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, as well as the author of Beast Children!

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Beast Children? I can't fucking believe it.

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Holy shit! For listeners who don't remember, Beast Children is a manga that is so bad we invented the certified flop tier for it.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. We did not realize that manga could be as bad as Beast Children.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Now we've read manga that are worse since then.

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_02]: But much worse.

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_03]: We've read much worse, but that was the first one where we were like, holy shit, this sucks!

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_03]: How did this get in Shonen Jump?

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_03]: But we're not talking about that, we're talking about Green Green Greens which ran from November 27th, 2023 to June 10th, 2024 for 26 chapters, 3 volumes.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and apparently real tragedy how short it was.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean are people saying it's like a tragedy?

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I guess let's get into our thoughts in the first chapter and we'll see you.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah!

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_02]: So Jordan, tell us about what happened in this chapter.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_03]: So, Haku Yaisaki is a slacker who has absolutely no ambition or passion for anything relatable.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_03]: He's comfortable sitting on the sidelines and just cheering people on while talking about how much money they could make with their skill.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Meanwhile, his classmate, Narashiko Oga, is the complete opposite.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_03]: She is laser focused on her goals, almost like some kind of robot.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a skull.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_03]: And she wants to go to America.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_03]: The teacher's like, dang Yaisaki, if you just like fucking tried for once, you could get into a better school.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's like, nah, I just want to take things easy.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Easy.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Again, relatable.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Later, Yaisaki invites his friends to lunch.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_03]: But one of them is studying for med school while another is making a dang video game.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_03]: The only one who can come is his friend, who's a baseball player.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_03]: He tells Yaisaki that he learned to like baseball because they used to play catch together and that, hey, Yaisaki actually had a much better arm than him.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Which Yaisaki denies because he can't admit to himself that he had potential and could have been good at something and chose not to be.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Later, he runs into Oga who's arguing with a woman who claims that she hit her car but is actively in fact trying to extort her for money.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_03]: He intercepts a slap or her much like how the Arizona Falcons intercepted Jalen Hurts' final throw in the Eagles game, breaking my heart into a thousand pieces.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Popcorn David.

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_02]: What a timely reference when this episode comes out.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Two weeks after we record it.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yes.

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Oga takes him to the driving range where she works in order to patch him up and reveals to him that she is deadly serious about golf.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_02]: He says that's cool because Tiger Woods Golf Club has recently sold for hundreds of millions of yen which based on exchange rates is about $12.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha, yeah.

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_02]: She has him try to hit the ball and it takes him seven times to barely hit it.

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_02]: She then roasts the fuck out of him saying that he doesn't understand how hard Tiger worked and that he doesn't care about anything.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And so defaults the money and that she fucking hates him and that she's the reason why her dad left.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Damn.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_02]: After going home, he realizes that she's right and he has nothing to offer.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_02]: When trying to golf again, Oga comes up to him and shows him proper stance before apologizing to how harsh her roast was.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_02]: But she says she still doesn't like him.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_02]: He manages to hit the ball pretty far for his first day and really tears up his hand.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Oga gives him a glove for next time and that's not a euphemism.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh God.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_02]: But he says he's probably not going to keep going.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_02]: When he leaves, she looks at his club and realizes he wasn't using a driver but an eight iron which means that the distance he hit the ball was insane.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I assume because they don't know anything about golf.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Later that night in the bathtub, Isaki contemplates golf.

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Contemplating golf in the bathtub, you know?

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Sounds like a good time.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, who hasn't done that?

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Man.

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So Jordan, what were your first impressions?

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Holy shit! This is the Beast Children guy?

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_02]: This is insane.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_03]: This is like a massive glow up.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Like what the fuck?

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is like going from a Malcolm distortion to Dragon and Chameleon.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I just...what?

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Where did this actually...no, this is like...we've seen this before.

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_02]: This is like going from philosophy school to high-Q.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Or BEG to Soul Eater.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I really Soul Eater still had some fucking weird parts to it.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_02]: But this is crazy.

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, listeners if you can think of any of our crazy gloves that we've covered let us know.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_02]: This is just...this is like actually a really good chapter.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_02]: I unironically see why people are upset this guy canceled.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how it continues.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, I've read enough flops to know that like...

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_03]: You can have a strong first chapter.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: A strong first chapter and it falls apart.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_03]: We call that Earth Child.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but honestly this is like...

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_03]: If the series keeps up this level of quality then this isn't gonna be a flop.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Can you imagine if we gave Manga of the Year to a Manga created by the guy who made Beast Children?

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_02]: David, I would love that.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I wonder what this competition this year is.

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't have the highest competition.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Can we talk about how this has a not forced female character in a sports manga which is actually quite impressive?

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I like her, yeah.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_03]: She's like very like serious.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I also really like how you know there's this idea where it's like you see somebody...

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Somebody who's like really good and you're like, ah man they're born with it.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, they were just given this talent and she just like do you have any fucking idea how much work this takes?

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_03]: And you know what? I feel like that's like almost the author kind of telling us.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I worked so fucking hard after Beast Children sucked, okay?

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I like how Oga clearly is a serious character but not like a robot.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Like she does still have her little joke she shows personality which is again something not easy to do.

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I think Yaesaki is like an interesting character.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Like it's interesting because like the fact that he's like strong is foreshadowed.

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't come out of fucking nowhere.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_03]: People are always like dude, you're strong.

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_03]: You are athletic. You could keep going.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And his issue is that he just has no drive and doesn't give a shit.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_03]: In the first couple pages like he beats everybody in like at swimming but he's just like this is just this swimming match.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't care. It doesn't mean anything.

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_03]: There's always somebody better than you so like who cares?

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And there's this moment, the moment where the baseball player dude is just like dude,

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_03]: you had a really good pitching arm and he's just like no I didn't and he looks down and you could see like

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_03]: he has regret over and he's trying to convince himself that he had nothing so he can't feel bad that he didn't act on.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_03]: There's depth there is what I'm saying.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think that's fair.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm really impressed especially based on like how fucking paper thin and annoying the main character

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_03]: and plot.

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Beast children was and everything else that Beast children was.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, except for Sora.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: So right, Sora wasn't as impressive on the reread.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_02]: But at least that's a sign where you see he was he has it somewhere in him.

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I think also a series that really I thought of while reading this was Blue Box

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_02]: because Blue Box also was sports manga and had like a lot of really great character moments

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_02]: like you remember those little jokes and stuff in Blue Box.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_02]: It reminds me of this where like the characters are just acting like people.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_02]: They're talking about things that don't have to relate to golf.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Like golf is not constantly talked about in the chapter but I don't feel like it's not like hands

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: where I was like is this actually about that topic?

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, it's very clearly going to be a golf monk.

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_03]: The first thing we see is the master's tournament, you know, like it absolutely

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_03]: is going to be focused on golf.

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_03]: But like there's more to it than just golf.

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I really want to say no notes, but I will say on page 37 you do notice our kind of slip a little

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_02]: and that's like where you remember, oh, this guy did drop these children.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_02]: But you're really nitpicking honestly.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I really think this is an extremely strong first chapter.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think I would have just kept reading this even if we weren't doing show on the flop,

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_02]: which I guess answers the next question we have.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I really am excited for the next manga this guy makes.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't fucking believe it, but we would both read another 10 chapters of this.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Wow.

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Amazing.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And before we get into what we think will happen next, if you've been enjoying the show,

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_02]: we'd really appreciate if you subscribe to the show on the flop YouTube,

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_02]: trying to hit our goal of 1500 YouTube subs.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And if we hit it, we're going to do a special bonus episode on the build king epilogue.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_02]: That's our stuff through more build king content just for you are wonderful YouTube subscribers.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And if you're already subscribed, thank you so much.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, god damn it.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_02]: What do you think you're going to happen next, David?

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I think the main character is going to lose his first major tournament.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I think Olga has shitty parents as I was joking in the plot summary and maybe use his golf to escape.

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Or that's all they value for her is that she is useless if she's not good at golf.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think the main character is going to have some sort of backstory that explains why he golfed good.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Kind of like how in I shall 21, we learned why the main character could run so fast.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that Yaisaki doesn't know what the word bar means.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that Yaisaki is like told about the green masters jacket.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And it was like, you know what? I want to win the green masters jacket.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Is that what the green green greens means?

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe. But David, do you know what the master's jacket is?

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_03]: No, I don't know anything about this sport.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. So when you win the masters tournament, they give you a green jacket like and it's like a huge symbol.

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_03]: And my last guess is Olga has a bitter rival.

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I think those are valid guesses.

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And Jordan, what's your power word?

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Birdie first manga complete miss second manga got a lot closer.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_03]: But clearly didn't really strike it big. You know what I mean?

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Like isn't a birdie when you're like two under par?

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_03]: That's an eagle.

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, but isn't a birdie still under par birdies when you're three under par?

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I think the next one might be it David.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, fair enough.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Hopping in here to correct my lovely hosts.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_00]: A birdie is when you are one under par and eagle is when you are two under par.

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And an albatross is when you are three under par.

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_00]: These terms apply to both ball golf and disc golf, which is the objectively superior sport.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And then mine is drive.

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, haha, golf reference.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Also, I'm really driven to keep reading this, which I just was never expecting in a million years.

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Wait, am I wrong about birdie about birdies?

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I never really paid that much attention to golf.

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, it's okay, Jordan.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I still love you.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And I still love everyone who submit a question for the Q&A as a reminder,

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_02]: you can do it in the show and flop discord where we get priority of people who haven't asked a question before had a question.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a long time or our patrons starting off from red blade.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_02]: What flop series would make the best dating sin in which they spelled a sin?

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_02]: What I said that was a typo bonus section.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_02]: What flop series would you actually play the dating sim for?

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like Tokyo Demon Bride is already a dating sim.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I thought you were going to say I tell see again just so you can be stalked by.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_02]: No, that's that's a horror game, David.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_02]: That's not a dating sim.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just imagining the red hood the guy makes in its oops all muscle girls the dating.

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh God, it's called crunches to crushes the muscle girl dating simulator.

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Also, love rush was pretty much structured like that too.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_02]: That's true, but I don't want to play love rush.

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I would however play mama you you.

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, how about teenage Renaissance David and all the women are classical art like in the show?

[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what that's like a good shitpost dating sim like, you know, hot to full boyfriend the one where you date pigeons.

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I hear the lore of that is very deep.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_03]: It is very deep.

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_03]: You are the last human after a massive genocide.

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you are not a pigeon in that game.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, next up from ZZ Digital.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_02]: What would your specialty be as a state alchemist from I assume from out of commiss?

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Gotta be right.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean New Zealand has a state wizard so you never know.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's awesome.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_02]: What about you, man?

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's see.

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess my specialty would be I think I think repairing objects is really cool.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Kind of like I always thought Josuke in part four had a really cool stand idea and that's actually one of the first utilizations of alchemy they show.

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So imagine if you're like the guy who can fix anything using alchemy.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I'd like paint things and then use alchemy to make them come to life.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_03]: That would be cool.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, from Yisle.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't actually know how to say the name of this page.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Elysian?

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Sure.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Is there a place where I can see what is scheduled to be covered or is it a patreon thing?

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Curious what's coming up the pike.

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_02]: So yes, you can actually patrons at any tier can see our month schedule.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_02]: We posted usually at the end of the month for like the first or second day of the month and see the bonus content all the episodes and who our guests are so you can find it at patreon.com.com.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And of course we also say at the beginning of the end of the episode what we're going to be covering next.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Next up from funky act four out of the flops from C to D on the tier list.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Were there any that you liked despite its massive flaws?

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_02]: So yes, this points out how there's really two ways of viewing something in C and D.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_02]: One is did a great job and fumbled it somehow versus the other type which is just kind of mediocre the whole way.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_02]: So what comes to you as something that had a strong really strong arts but then just fumbled something?

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_02]: The one that sticks out to me right here is levely because I was thinking robot laser beam is yeah robot like epitome.

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_03]: They're actually like a bunch of ones here where I look at and I'm like God I liked parts of it a lot like but yeah overall just didn't do it just did not.

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like to Kara Kahara we talked about fumbled the last like third of the series.

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but as you said robot laser beam is actually pretty fucking good until they go to the tournament and then it also gets racist.

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I think another example is also stealth symphony where its ending was actually the best part of it.

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the beginning I remember was pretty good.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_03]: The middle was trash and ruined the whole thing and then the ending was very good and insane.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So I think those are some of the ones that definitely come to mind where and then of course the number one good first chapter fucked up the rest of the series will forever be what series Jordan Earth child Earth child yes you want to take that against these have more confidence.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, to Keke Ryu say that's another one.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I think to Keke Ryu say more so than even earth child.

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Well to Keke Ryu say had a good first like eight chapters.

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and then it got really bad.

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, earth child is definitely the best should have been a one shot of anything we've ever read.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, first chapter actually pretty fucking good.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh and family deadly sins also the first two volumes were quite good.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which is luckily that was all REM had to read the lucky bastard.

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_03]: So I would say about 40% of our CD tier has something really good and then it just fucked up the rest of the series also like I remember having like a soft spot for our blood out there was something about that series that like I actually

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I did actually really like but I couldn't justify at all saying it was saying it all that it wasn't a flop.

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, it was just it didn't make it.

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_03]: It didn't make it.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Didn't make it.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember that well I just remember it was really cool to have Stephen Paul on who was our first like actual official manga person and that was really cool.

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Hell yeah.

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Teen renaissance David mannequin piss absolute king.

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yep we stan him.

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Stanneken piss.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Or the damn bitch you live like this ghost from.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, come go the false detective.

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean usually if you're on seer diet generally means there's something really good to talk about very few of these maybe golem hearts is an example where it was just detour in every aspect.

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but even golem hearts I don't know there was something charming about it or maybe smoky BB there wasn't really anything interesting to it.

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I feel like a barrage is the most detour thing here.

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_03]: It's nothing.

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Nealation to this is nothing.

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Moving on to our final question.

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So we previously got a jump series from the offer of took your Avengers and now we're getting a jump series from the offer of Aruma that's two of jumps competitors with one left.

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So which weekly shown in Sunday, mangaka would you like to see do a jump series?

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh fuck.

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Free rent.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God I would I mean I would love to see the author of free rent show up because free rent is fucking incredible.

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean I and I wonder Max if you agree.

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to see Ruma Ko Takahashi create something for weekly shown in jump.

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what that would look like but that would be absolutely insane to see fucking what is it the share of manga creating something in shown in jump.

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_02]: The share of manga.

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well because she's like you know shares had a number one hit in every decade for the last like 50 years.

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_02]: And so Ruma Ko Takahashi is the same way where like every 10 years she makes like an absolute banger of a series.

[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_03]: She's working on Mao right now?

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Guessing that's what you're talking about.

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean 21 volumes so I mean.

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Jordan the fact that she created Rama one half would already make her legendary but she also made.

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yutuyasha.

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Yutuyasha she made Ursa Yatsura like it's rare for someone to have two major hits but for her to have at the most conservative three insanely influential manga is insane.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm only familiar with Rama one half and Inuyasha but like yeah now I mean.

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh you should watch Ursa Yatsura it actually just got remade like last year.

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah that's cool yeah I'll have to do that.

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it like even Castle in the Sky referenced it.

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Really you know it's funny because I'm looking at the Wikipedia page and yeah I've seen this.

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah it literally has a legacy section on its Wikipedia page.

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah this is very clearly extremely influential.

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah so every decade she's creating something that really leaves a mark in the culture.

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_02]: That's amazing you know go go her go go Takahashi.

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And so this is an R1 listeners if you have any thoughts of course on anything this question but this one in particular someone we haven't talked about yet.
