David  0:00

Welcome to Shonen Flop Chibi, a first impressions mini episode where we talk about the first chapter of the series that we'll be covering in depth next week. I'm Jordan and with me today, as usual is my co host David say, Hi, David.

Eh, what's up? We are balling today, aren't we? Jordan? And by that I mean Hi David.

That's not what I asked you to say but that's cool. [David laughs] Yeah we are we are balling today. Yeah, I would describe us both as ballers if somebody came up to us-

Yeah.

Jordan  0:26

I would say that yeah.

David  0:28

Yes. Especially high ballers. Like David

Sure. Anyway, what series are we covering this week, David?

We are doing Nine Dragons Ball Parade [Jordan laughs] aka as Tucker has let us know is Kowloon Ball Parade yet the name of the series in English doesn't make a ton of sense which might-

Jordan  0:46

No.

David  0:46

have contributed to getting canceled

Yeah, I could not like remember the title of this series until this morning I was like oh yeah Nine Balls Dragon Parade right?

Yeah, it's literally-`

Jordan  0:55

Dragon with nine balls

David  0:57

Yes, it's literally why we have our guests on the main episode because of the name of the series. But who's that guest? [Jordan giggles]

Jordan  1:03

Oh.

David  1:03

You'll have to listen in if we give you a hint for [Jordan goes hmm] besides the hint we just gave.

Jordan  1:07

Oh yeah guys uh this is now an ARG. [David laughs] You gotta figure out who it is you know just decipher the coordinates [Jordan makes indisguinshable noise] What did I just say? Get that slow it down. Who the Who fucking knows. [Jordan gasps]

David  1:19

Jordan, that's a strange opinion you have about the Irish but let's keep going.

Jordan  1:23

Work harder on the ARG and you might figure out what the fuck that joke ment. [David laughs]

David  1:28

There's a fake Steven Universe episode called Pearl hates the Irish that I was thinking of.

Jordan  1:36

Good. Anyway, [Jordan laughs] As she should but yeah, anyway. So yeah, we're reading uh Nine Dragon's Ball Parade. And that went for three volumes and 20 chapters and David who's it by?

David  1:49

It is by Mikiyasu Kamada.

Jordan  1:51

Doesn't look like he's done anything else on this note sheet at least

David  1:55

Because we don't talk about that in Chibi episodes though.

Jordan  1:57

That's true.

David  1:58

Also, MAL was down so I couldn't do any research.

Jordan  2:00

Oh, damn. There was like a serious cyber attack on fucking-

David  2:04

Yeah.

Jordan  2:04

My Anime List. God damn.

David  2:06

Yeah, it's just just like I was like this isn't only just me right? And they were like no, like two other people in discord like yeah, it was just completely down. So Jordan, you might tell me a bit about what the series is about?

Jordan  2:15

I would love to David. High school baseball is some serious shit. No one believes that more than Tamao Azukida, a shy nerdy kid who has worked hard to come out of his shell and try out for the Hakuo Gakuin, the most dominant baseball team in the league. After two years of highly specific training and an immense amount of research on other players Azukida is ready to try out for the catcher's position at the tryouts as opposed to meet Tao Ryudo, an easygoing and seemingly lazy dude who nonetheless pitches like a fucking bullet. While [David grunts in agreement] bugging Azukida about basic baseball concepts. The players are all separated into two teams for an exhibition match and Azukida is able to use his weirdly in depth knowledge on the psychology of specific high schoolers to win the match. Despite this, the catching position is given instead to a big, muscly dude from America and Azukida is crushed. Ryudo catches up to him saying that he turned down his offer from the team and challenges Azukida to help him put together the best baseball team ever.

David  3:22

Yeah.

Jordan  3:23

Yeah. Whoo. Yeah.

David  3:26

Sports. Yeah. [David laughs]

Jordan  3:28

So David, what are your first impressions after reading the first chapter?

David  3:32

Moneyball the Shonen mangas. [Jordan laughs]

Jordan  3:34

It's more like uh Moneyball 21.

David  3:37

Nine Money Balls Parade.

Jordan  3:40

Yeah, yeah, uh, uh Eyeshield Nine Balls. Yeah.

David  3:43

Yeah, there's that I would say, [David gasps] like my post in the chat. I was like, I feel like just calling it Dragon Balls as like a Moneyball [Jordan laughs] parody is like the low hanging fruit. And so I'm-

Jordan  3:51

Yeah.

David  3:51

Like, we can probably do better especially as we have an expert in this topic, but I like that it is really perfect.

Jordan  3:58

And sometimes the obvious choice is the best one.

David  4:00

Yeah, like that I I assume that's probably why the word balls in the name of the series.

Jordan  4:04

I feel like nobody had Shonen Jump looked at this and didn't think huh-

David  4:08

Yep.

Jordan  4:08

Dragons and ball are right next to each other.

David  4:12

Yeah.

Jordan  4:12

I'm sure that somebody like somebody knows what fucking Dragon Ball is in fucking Shonen Jump buddy.

David  4:20

Yeah. You ever hear this series, this character called Goku?

Jordan  4:22

From Journey to the West?

David  4:23

That would be hilarious. Actually. If it was like Dandandan, where they didn't say what the main character's name is at the end. And like the other dude asked, he's like, Oh, by the way, what's your name? And just goes Goku. [Jordan laughs] And this would have been the best thing ever.

Jordan  4:37

My last name is Vegita.

David  4:39

Yeah. Son Goku but you know. [Jordan laughs]

Jordan  4:42

No I know, I know.

David  4:43

But to get into other thoughts, I think the art is very clean. I was really thinking-

Jordan  4:47

Yeah.

David  4:47

This is actually like the perfect art style to translate into an anime because it was just very polished and it actually had a lot of really good use of gray tone. I was just surprised how gray the tone was in the series.

Jordan  4:56

You know something, the art is kind of interesting because of how uninteresting it is, in some ways, like it [David laughs] really blends in, like, I read the whole thing. And there is usually when I'm reading the series, I'm thinking about the art all the time, and like critiquing somebody's art or thinking, Oh, wow, that was really good here. It didn't even occur to me to fucking think about the art.

David  5:18

Yeah.

Jordan  5:18

It was so boilerplate, but like, I think that's fine. I think in some ways, that's actually very good. Because like, from a certain point of view, if you're reading a manga, or a comic, and you're distracted by the art, then the artists kind of fucked up.

David  5:33

Yeah. And Tucker is also just in the comments right now as he's listening to us reminding us that the word Dragon Ball actually does not appear in the Japanese title. So that is purely an English idea. So they were probably trying to get that good SEO for the series.

Jordan  5:46

Yeah. Now, then that means it was 100% intentional.

David  5:50

Yeah.

Jordan  5:50

That means that like, they could have translated it differently, and specifically chose not to.

David  5:56

Yeah, I [Jordan laughs] would actually be curious um maybe for the main episode, Tucker, if you have any opinions of what you would have translated it to in English, I'd be curious to see what your thoughts are, but Jordan though we haven't talked about probably the biggest issue of this series, where it has by far the fastest any percent speedrun of having a exam arc for any manga series.

Jordan  6:17

That is true. However, I'm gonna cut this series some slack. Not really. Like usually when there's an exam arc, the point is that they have to have the person get accepted by the exam, and then like, Okay, now the real thing can begin but since like the point of this is that they don't get in.

David  6:35

Yeah.

Jordan  6:36

And you see that like, no, like, they totally should have gotten in like they didn't take Azukida, the the manager guy goes up to him and says, Hey, you know, you're really smart. But like, we got a bunch of smart people here. So like, we're really only looking for himbos.

David  6:49

Yeah, I mean, that's actually very fair. Also, baseball tryouts are literally built into the fabric of the sport. It's like, not like they were making an excuse, like, just that's normal. [David laughs]

Jordan  6:59

It's kind of like, this is sort of how you do an exam arc correctly like there's nothing wrong with having an exam as like a plot point in a manga or anything if it makes sense. The problem is that it just feels like it gets shoehorned into everything.

David  7:16

Yeah,

Jordan  7:16

Where it just doesn't belong. Here it absolutely belongs. Makes total sense.

David  7:21

Yeah. And I also appreciate that they played baseball in the first chapter. Like remember Beast Children?

Jordan  7:26

Yeah.

David  7:26

It was like chapter seven [Jordan laughs] when they actually played rugby.

Jordan  7:29

Do you think this guy read Beast Children and was like, Oh, so this is what I shouldn't do? [Jordan snickers]

David  7:34

Well, yeah. Well that explains why the main characters like I just want to catch a ball and he kept saying that all the time. [Jordan laughs]

Jordan  7:39

That's true. You know something I was gonna say like that my Power Word was balls, but I think I used that for Beast Children. [David laughs]

David  7:50

Aww man.  I legitimately did this. I think that maybe it didn't make baseball seem quite as interesting, but I think seeing is how the high standard I have for sports manga is Eye Shield 21, nothing is probably because this series is probably not going to get cartoonish like that, since it's trying to be all like maths and shit.

Jordan  8:04

I mean, I'm just gonna go out and say this is not going to be as good as Eye Shield 21 and it's not even a knock against this series. Eye Shield 21 is just fantastic.

David  8:12

I mean, that's like me like this is no Chainsawman. I also think this series actually legitimately makes being the catcher's seem actually, like cool. I.

Jordan  8:20

Yeah.

David  8:20

Don't know sports very well. I assume catcher was kind of like, you know, it's like after being in like, outfield kind of doesn't really matter, but seeing what they do. That's actually a very interesting tactical element. Like now I kind of feel like the catcher is like the bass player of a baseball team, where they're never the star, but if they're not doing a good job, you can really tell.

Jordan  8:36

Yeah, that's kind of how it is. I mean, like, I'm also not a baseball expert, but I I think I know a little more than you. [David laughs] Catchers are very important uh because when they fuck up, it ruins the whole thing because-

David  8:50

Yeah.

Jordan  8:50

Like if a catcher can't catch the ball if a catcher can't get the balls he needs to your your whole team is fucked over like a stupid little mistake.

David  8:58

Yeah, I'm just also thinking of Catcher in the Rye right now. [David and Jordan laughs]

Jordan  9:04

Catcher in the Nine Balls.

David  9:06

Yeah. Catcher in the actually Catcher in the Nine

Jordan  9:08

Catcher in the Nine. There we go. There we go.

David  9:10

Wow that's actually really good shit.

Jordan  9:11

Oh, yeah.

David  9:12

Yeah.

Jordan  9:13

Like if what if Azukida was as miserable as Holden Caulfield?

David  9:16

Sleep tight, you morons.

Jordan  9:18

Yeah. Awe man. But I will say I like this series. I'd like this chapter. Actually, the way that Azukida really does introduce all this strategy into it, it makes it really does make it feel way more interesting, you know?

David  9:30

Do you want them to do more of the mathematical part of it? Or do you think that was enough just to set the tone and now it's just kind of like we know he's good at it. We don't really care about like the Applied Statistics he's using?

Jordan  9:42

I want them to use more of it because I feel like the way they used it was pretty interesting.

David  9:48

Yeah.

Jordan  9:48

It's cool seeing his thought process this could this could be like almost a baseball like-

David  9:53

Yeah.

Jordan  9:53

Version of Death Note. If I feel like it's done, right. I don't know. Like very strategic.

David  9:58

I literally think this series can be educational if that was the direction like this, this could have been like the Dr. Stone of Applied Statistics.

Jordan  10:04

How ironic because you know what the author Dr. Stone wrote?

David  10:08

Yeah, Trillionaire Game?

Jordan  10:09

Yeah, exactly.

David  10:10

Which is about uh finance.

Jordan  10:11

It's just like this.

David  10:13

I do have one serious negative though.

Jordan  10:15

Yeah.

David  10:15

[inaudible], sorry it sounded like you wanted to transition. And I the series doesn't really have a main goal like, like they haven't established like when he builds the team, what the point is, like, I I kind of get you vibed for it. But you know, like, once he builds the team, then what? Like Eye Shield 21 they talked about it.

Jordan  10:30

Well I feel like the whole point is that they're going to build the best team ever and beat the team that they just tried out for. If they didn't say that directly I thought that was like the direct implication.

David  10:39

Oh, yeah, I guess that makes sense. But we'll see.

Jordan  10:41

Yeah, who knows? Or I could be totally wrong. Who the fuck knows. This is a show about flopped manga this this manga did not do well. [David laughs] So maybe they don't do the smart thing. And I'm I'm giving them too much credit.

David  10:56

That's true. But actually the thinking of guesses Jordan, what were your guesses?

Jordan  10:59

First of all, uh there will be a weird last minute twist of fate thing that leads to them playing against Hakuho way sooner than they otherwise should have. [David laughs] Because this series is ending in 20 chapters.

David  11:11

I'm just going to say I think it's called cancellation.

Jordan  11:13

Yeah, yeah, exactly. Well, no, but I mean, it'll just be like, Oh, my God, look at the weird luck. We're facing off against them in the first match. You know, that kind of thing? Yeah. My next one is the nine balls of the nine players that they recruit to fill up their positions.

David  11:28

Sure, like that shouldn't even count. It's like literally the point.

Jordan  11:31

Yeah. Okay. Well like-

David  11:33

It's like, if we read One Piece you seemed like, oh, Luffy will encounter other pirates. [Jordan laughs]

Jordan  11:38

No, it would be like if we read One Piece, and Luffy met one pirate.

David  11:44

He did. And then he met other ones. [David and Jordan laugh] All right, now that one's funny, thank you David.

Jordan  11:50

Well, here's the thing, David, two of my guesses are reliant on this. The next one is we will not meet all nine balls.

David  11:56

Oh, that's fair. That's fair.

Jordan  11:57

Yeah.

David  11:58

And then my guess is our I believe, as is tradition, there will be a token female manager.

Jordan  12:02

Yep.

David  12:02

Because they always have to have a female manager because they need a gender balance. But what else can she do on the team?

Jordan  12:07

Yeah.

David  12:07

And then I think on that note, there'll be a kid who looks like he's an adult that joins the team and will people will make lots of really dumb that's a teenager jokes,

Jordan  12:15

They more or less kind of hinted that they would do that in the first [David giggles] chapter little bit with that huge dude from uh America.

David  12:24

Yeah. And then lastly, we don't see anything about their lives that doesn't have to do with baseball. I had one other guess and that I was kind of 50/50 on I feel like if the series didn't get canceled, I think they would have lost their first baseball game, but I think they're probably going to win it because the series doesn't have time to have multiple games in it.

Jordan  12:40

Yeah. [David gasps] So David, would you read another 10 chapters of this?

David  12:43

I think so. I enjoyed this. I really hope we can subvert my expectations.

Jordan  12:47

I would also read another 10 chapters of this This was fun.

David  12:51

You can usually tell if a series is fun if people submit a ton of six word summaries we already had like five so I am really excited to read the series with MasakoX and yes we literally had him on and because of the word-

Jordan  13:01

Spoilers.

David  13:01

Dragon Ball sorry spoilers. Yes. We [David gasps] [Jordan laughs] but we literally have him on the show literally because of the word dragon and ball. For listeners who are unaware

Jordan  13:08

Yeah.

David  13:08

who MasakoX was I'm not sure if it's fair to say the creator but one of the major people that made Dragonball Z, the abridged series.

Jordan  13:15

He voiced Goku and Gohan.

David  13:17

Yes.

Jordan  13:17

So he's he's kind of a big deal, you know?

David  13:20

He's also British, so.

Jordan  13:21

True. [David laughs] That's another factor for I guess why we pick this because they just have cricket. So we wanted to expose him to another a better form of that sport.

David  13:30

Exactly.

Jordan  13:32

Yeah.

David  13:33

But yeah. And then speaking of cricket, what are your power? What's your Power Word?

Jordan  13:36

It's not cricket. But it is actually you'll like this. David. It is bass and then like parentheses D. So it's based and the D is for David because you like that word.

David  13:47

Oh, I thought it was D because that represents the coefficient value of Applied Statistics when you're trying to do a linear regression.

Jordan  13:52

It also represents that.

David  13:54

It doesn't because what I just said was gibberish. Fucking got you.

Jordan  13:57

Well it also represents gibberish. [Jordan laughs]

David  14:00

Uh, that makes sense. I was in a similar headspace in speaking of how MasakoX is British I did maths. And as I-

Hey. [Jordan laughs]

Posted in our group chat, Google sent me a notification saying hey, you're spelling it with an S but you say you're using American English. Do you want to switch to British English for this document? [Jordan laughs]

Jordan  14:19

Oh, god.

David  14:20

Oh, if this series had gone on they definitely or if the anime adaption would have had a cricket filler arc.

Jordan  14:25

They should let you know what there should be. I hope there's a cricket manga somewhere that I'm just not familiar with.

David  14:30

Oh, what if one of his players is a cricket player? Ah, that's that's too out of left field, but I would have been a fun guess.

Jordan  14:36

Maybe they see some dude uh who's really talented at cricket. And they're like, Hey, man, no one gives a shit about cricket. But like you're really good at cricket. You're probably good at baseball too. [Jordan snickers] Like the same sport.

David  14:48

Alright.

Jordan  14:48

Just like, different slightly. But-

David  14:51

If that pops up, we'll we'll bring it up in our Chibi Scoring is a mutual guess.

Jordan  14:55

Yeah. David. So uh.

David  14:56

Is it the time for the Q&A?

Jordan  14:58

I would say so. I think it's good to go into our question and answer time. Da da da da daaah.

David  15:04

All right, we have some very fantastic questions. Unfortunately, we didn't have time for nine questions and that would have been on theme but we do have five [Jordan grunts in agreement] so first of all from OzyRat who's listening right now, if you went to a karaoke bar what song would you pick that best fits you?

Jordan  15:17

I think I would pick the song Angel Witch

David  15:20

Yeah.

Jordan  15:21

By Angel Witch.

Okay.

On the album Angel Witch.

David  15:24

Is the lyric just Angel Witch over and over again?

Jordan  15:26

That's the chorus of the song. [David snickers] Goes no no it goes you're an angel witch You're an angel witch. David what would your song be?

David  15:35

Actually my go to song is always I Believe in a Thing Called Love cuz I can actually sing my high pitch part and it always weirds people out.

Jordan  15:41

I would absolutely love to sing that song in a karaoke bar too.

David  15:44

I believe in a thing called love. [Jordan provides backup vocals] Just listen to the rhythm of my heart. I believe in a thing called love-ove. Oh my my neighbors think I'm a- [Jordan sings] Yeah, we'll do karaoke at some point I sent me All right, next is from fellow listener T Wolfwood who says Best date location in a flopped manga?

Jordan  16:03

David, you have a girlfriend. What would you think is the best date location in a flopped manga?

David  16:06

I I would take her to Dolphin Island from U19 actually, it seems like a very nice place. Uh we're actually planning a trip to Fiji right now so she definitely likes tropical islands.

Jordan  16:14

Woah, you know what? Similar to that. Maybe the islands on uh from hard cop from hard cop [Jordan laughs]

David  16:21

Hard Cop.

Jordan  16:21

Island.

David  16:23

Hard cop from boiled dolphin

Jordan  16:24

Hard boiled cop. Boiled dolphin. Yeah. From Hard Cop and Boiled Dolphin. Yeah, yeah,

David  16:30

That sounds good to me.

Jordan  16:31

We just go to try to go to the island so that we just wind up on a completely different island.

David  16:37

Oh God.

Jordan  16:38

[Jordan says something unintelligible]

David  16:39

We do learn how to breathe underwater, so that would be fun.

Jordan  16:41

Yeah, exactly.

David  16:43

All right. Next up is from Jyanet who asked if we made a fighting game of all the flop protagonists who would be on the top of the tier list and who would be at the bottom I think this is a question where Jordan why don't we just spit ball some ideas but this would definitely be something fun to really go in depth along with the battle royale question um on Patreon, so Jordan who would you say I guess if you had to do like a Marvel vs Capcom three style like we pick or like a Fighters Z Fighters style who would you pick is like snap pick right now just talking about who would you pick is your three person team?

Jordan  17:11

Tai and Sei from Double Taisei.

David  17:15

Definitely a form change character.

Jordan  17:16

Yeah, definitely a form change character. And like, you know, you know, it's like they're not a fighter in the manga but like still, you know, they uh.

David  17:22

They just throw shogi pieces.

Jordan  17:24

They throw shogi pieces, they do the thing where like, they pretend that they're in a shonen manga, they do a thing where it's like they're in space and doing shogi and shit.

David  17:32

Again, Jordan, they never went to space, we just assume they would have at some point.

Jordan  17:37

Fuck, I really assumed that, huh.

David  17:40

It's like a pristine paradise where you [Jordan squeals] just keep thinking that there is an arc where they went into space but it just just because it fits so well with the tone of that series.

Jordan  17:49

I didn't mean to do that. [David laughs] I was just like Oh, yeah, they went to space. That's amazing. So that I do feel like Jim from like Jim Naruto,

David  17:59

Yeah.

Jordan  17:59

I feel like he would be broken.

David  18:01

Yep.

Jordan  18:01

You know? Like, he would just be like a cheap character.

David  18:03

It's like Storm and Marvel vs Capcom Two.

Jordan  18:05

Yeah, yeah, except worse, I guess. [David snickers] I guess I would not pick him. Ooh, let's see. I always have to remember everything and oh, I would pick Zipman

David  18:16

Zipman? Oh, yeah, that's a good one.

Jordan  18:18

Zipman would have a cool last move set. [David grunts in agreement] Yeah, and then finally, I think that I would pick the main character of Candy Flurry.

David  18:28

Oh, that's a solid choice.

Jordan  18:29

Yeah, and her super move would be she turns her lollipops into Gigantor.

David  18:34

That's a good five five-

Jordan  18:36

Yeah.

David  18:36

Bar special. I uh let me see. I think that the kids from Double Arts would be fun because they'd be like those characters-

Jordan  18:42

Yeah.

David  18:42

That are really hard to use what would be like S Tier if he knew what to do with them.

Jordan  18:46

Kinda like Ice Climber duo.

David  18:47

Yeah, yeah, they'd be like Ice Climbers. [Jordan laughs]

Jordan  18:50

Literally together yeah.

David  18:53

Except if you kill them in the wrong actually it's the same thing that Ice Climbers where if you kill Popo, but not Nana he survives so it's the same thing where she dies if you kill if you kill main the guy first she just dies.

Jordan  19:03

If you kill either of them she dies but if you just kill her he's fine.

David  19:07

Yeah, that's yeah, exactly how Ice Climbers work.

Jordan  19:10

Yeah.

David  19:11

Oh man in Project M they had the Ike Climbers.

Jordan  19:13

The Ike Climbers?

David  19:14

Where there's two Ikes dressed up as Ike.

Jordan  19:16

What?

David  19:16

Yeah, it was great.

Jordan  19:17

That's hilarious.

David  19:18

I would do that. I think Moriking also would be pretty good.

Jordan  19:21

Ooh.

David  19:21

He uses beetle attacks.

Jordan  19:22

Use, use beetle attacks? Yeah,

David  19:24

He'd be a good uh striker. And then I'm trying to think of someone I feel like you'd want someone with like good projectile attack for spacing. So I am going to say that actually the dude from U19 might be good because he actually would be a really good zoner was his thread stuff.

Jordan  19:39

Ah, I see.

David  19:40

He would definitely have a really good assist.

Jordan  19:41

When you said projectile my mind immediately went to Robo from Robot x Laserbeam.

David  19:45

Oh yeah, just [Jordan laughs] imagine if we made a-

Jordan  19:49

Hey, okay, actually a fighting game character who only uses golf balls and-

David  19:54

Yes.

Jordan  19:54

And like is based on golfing and stuff that might be actually pretty good.

David  19:58

It does have a super move in series.

Jordan  20:00

Yes, yes. He just shoots a ball really straight.

David  20:03

Yeah, that's a fun question. I need to make a Google Doc with all the protagonists names, because easier to remember, but at some point, we will go through this and do we have to do that at least the battle royale and talk about who would probably win a tournament?

Jordan  20:13

Yeah.

David  20:13

That was a fun question. Next up, though, is from T Root, that we actually had all three of the Ghost Writers our transcription team putting in questions. So love you all who asked if you could reboot any canceled series, we've covered what would it be? And how would you retool to make it less cancelable? So Jordan, I'm going to a stipulation that this has to be a series that we said was at least a flop, because like fixing a series that was already good is too easy.

Jordan  20:34

Yeah, no shit. Yeah, maybe it's just because it's fresh in my mind. But I would reboot uh U19. I feel like that series had a ton of potential. There's a lot of really good stuff in there. But like, he's trying so hard to go for his metaphor that he screws up uh actually having like characters really.

David  20:50

That's fair.

Jordan  20:51

I would really tone that down [David grunts in agreement] a lot. Because I feel like you get it after a certain point. [Jordan giggles]

David  20:58

I'm picking what you're putting out, I would go Iron Knightm because again, I really think [Jordsan grunts in agreement] that idea of making like Shin Megami Tensei or Berserk for kids is a really cool space and just having a sense of like despair. But not being-

Jordan  21:12

Yeah.

David  21:12

Overly violent or brutal is just a really cool space that you could play it. So essentially-

Jordan  21:14

Yeah.

David  21:14

Use the good parts from the first chapter and build off of that.

Jordan  21:17

Yeah, just completely pretend that everything that came after the first chapter didn't exist and start from there.

David  21:22

Yeah. And that kind of weird incest subplot.

Jordan  21:24

Yeah, let's let's just translate it better.

David  21:27

Yeah.

Jordan  21:28

I would say. [Jordan laughs]

David  21:28

Yeah. And then finally, Jordan, I saved this question for last. It is from the stone hermit. This one is directed at you who asks Jordan, I'm a first year art student, as a former art student yourself, what tips or advice could you give me?

Jordan  21:39

Here's the basic thing about art school, you're gonna make a lot of art that you hate. That's how it is. That's just how it is. You're not there to become a good artist. At the end of your time there, you really aren't. What you're there to do is to learn how in the future as you keep working at it, you will become a great artist, because it's really like kind of a lifelong journey. You know, it's one. It's a frustrating thing about art. But it's also a great thing about art. You can do it all your life, basically. So just don't get discouraged if you make work that you hate. Because that's how you get better. The work that you make that you don't like, is the stuff that you learn the most from and yeah, just hang in there. And if you keep uh keep doing stuff, eventually you'll get to a point where you really like your stuff.

David  22:27

Oh, man, that's a great question. Also, he should-

Jordan  22:29

Yeah.

David  22:29

Read blue period because that explains everything Jordan just said in a manga.

Jordan  22:32

Hmm. [David snickers] Or Time Paradox Ghost Writer.

David  22:35

Two good series.

Jordan  22:36

Yeah.

David  22:37

Blue Period, though, was definitely not a flop as it has an anime adaption.

Ooh, yeah. Yeah.

We talked about that one. That's a serious with trans rights and thick women. So what more could you want?

Jordan  22:45

Well, if it's in art school, then it would have to be trans rights. Because that's just that's called realism.

David  22:52

Yeah.

Jordan  22:52

I'm gonna make a manga about art school. And oh, wow, there are there isn't a single gay guy in this. [David snickers]

David  23:00

Okay, and who way, uh shall we get to Shout outs?
