[00:02:55] Alright, so let's get into the manga details.

[00:02:58] Alright, so these are the manga details for full drive made by Genki.

[00:03:15] other postage on Twitter.

[00:03:58] But anyway, we're talking specifically about full drive.

[00:04:00] This probably man, you know, we've had so many sections like that just go on forever.

[00:04:04] So it's nice to just have one that's really short.

[00:04:07] This ran from October 23rd, 2017 to February 19th, 2018.

[00:04:13] It replaced.

[00:04:26] I love high school family.

[00:04:31] It's so high school family is about a normal high school student who start, you know,

[00:04:35] start in high school and he finds out that his entire family include his mom, his dad,

[00:04:39] his like 10 year old sister and his cat have all enrolled in high school with him.

[00:04:43] And only one of the funniest manga that's ever run and shown in gel.

[00:04:45] Oh, joy.

[00:04:46] It's really good.

[00:04:47] But yeah, the series that replaced full drive is a little indie comment called jujutsu

[00:04:52] kaisen.

[00:04:53] I don't need to tell you anything about jujutsu kaisen.

[00:04:57] Do I?

[00:04:58] No, no, no, you don't.

[00:04:59] You don't need me telling you about the next expansion.

[00:05:04] The series has started at the same time as Lysa peen, the Tomatoi Poodle by Koji Yoishi.

[00:05:09] It's been going since 2017.

[00:05:12] Eight plus volumes maxi b says it is complicated, whatever that means.

[00:05:17] There's just not ready to come in.

[00:05:19] Yeah, it was transferred to jump plus in 2018 with chapter 38 and another series started

[00:05:25] at the same time as with David odd golem hearts, which was our second episode.

[00:05:31] Oh, we also re looked at it at episode 52.

[00:05:44] But we're talking about full drive today that ran for 16 chapters three volumes.

[00:05:48] But let's get into the goddamn plot summary.

[00:05:51] Tom Ishiro Don is a quarter German kid living in Germany whose grandfather was known

[00:05:57] as Hagen Wolf.

[00:05:58] I believe David said that he did the math and yes, they did the math and his dad was his

[00:06:03] grandpa was born in the 40s.

[00:06:05] Yeah, his grandpa was not a Nazi although his grandfather's parents probably were.

[00:06:09] But Hagen Wolf was one of the greatest table tennis players of that generation.

[00:06:15] Yes, my friends, this manga is about ping pong.

[00:06:18] After his grandfather's death, Don and his mom moved to Japan where Don is determined

[00:06:23] to take the ping pong world by storm.

[00:06:26] He first meets Shiraishi Marin, a 13 year old ping pong prodigy which is a fun alliteration

[00:06:32] to say.

[00:06:33] She is surprised when he plays her to a standstill and Shiraishi is one of those manga characters

[00:06:40] who goes around talking about how beautiful she is and is pretty soon done a popcorn

[00:06:45] David.

[00:06:46] She tells him that he should join the best table tennis after school program, which he

[00:06:49] gets into by defeating Otsooshi in upper class man.

[00:06:52] Marin then tells him that he now needs to join Ozono, the best ping pong private middle

[00:06:56] school, which his mom just casually allows him to do because the offer I think forgot

[00:06:59] that he had established his mother as a character.

[00:07:02] Imagine like you 13 year old son comes home and it's just like, Hey mom, fuck what we were

[00:07:06] doing before I want to go to this private middle school and you just like, yeah, I'm like

[00:07:11] got the same thing as you go to.

[00:07:14] I love the idea that she brought him to Japan and just didn't decide what school he was

[00:07:18] going to go to beforehand.

[00:07:20] No, I think they transferred him just like apparently in two days it seems like two days

[00:07:25] later he was at the private school.

[00:07:27] I agree with you David.

[00:07:28] I feel like the author totally forgot, oh fuck there's like a process to this isn't

[00:07:33] there.

[00:07:34] Yeah.

[00:07:35] So Don joins the school and is able to find the table tennis club with help from Koshino

[00:07:39] who doesn't matter and I deleted his character from the character section.

[00:07:43] He doesn't matter.

[00:07:44] He's one of those characters where you can tell if this manga was a hit would have mattered

[00:07:48] but that it wasn't a hit doesn't matter.

[00:07:51] It doesn't matter and he meets a bunch of cool older kids Don makes his intentions of domination

[00:07:55] known and his challenge to match by PAN one of his seniors after a bunch of games which

[00:07:59] took away too many fucking chapters.

[00:08:01] Oh my god.

[00:08:02] Yes, yeah.

[00:08:04] What a fucking way to kill a momentum of the series especially so early two.

[00:08:08] The issue is we'll get into it.

[00:08:10] Yeah, where Con is slowly educating Don on why he sucks Don manages to win even though

[00:08:15] they didn't really establish him ever winning those games.

[00:08:18] They just say he does after the game.

[00:08:19] Yeah, pop heard and commented I think people can already tell our thoughts on this.

[00:08:24] Spoilers, I guess.

[00:08:26] This is when the kids of the plot summer and I could tell.

[00:08:31] Anyway, Don and Suu she hang out with Marin on her day off which doesn't really matter

[00:08:35] except it's kind of a date then and they had like this whole like I had like a moment

[00:08:39] when I was reading this chapter and it's just like they have like two older kids who are

[00:08:42] bullying kids over ping pong.

[00:08:44] Yeah, which is very you go where they're just like hey we're going to be bullies about

[00:08:48] the thing you're really good at so we'll sort it through we'll settle it through the

[00:08:52] mechanism of our other series works.

[00:08:54] I feel like this has been in every sports manga we cover like remember and smokey BB where

[00:08:59] like which by the way common is a baseball manga that's what the BB stands for.

[00:09:04] But yeah, in smokey BB like in like chapter two this pro baseball player who's like

[00:09:10] a little older than everybody else just shows up he's like oh so much better than all

[00:09:14] of you and then the main character shows him up that's exactly what happens here.

[00:09:17] I feel like it's in most of the sports manga man just imagine there was a sports manga

[00:09:22] that was about paintball or BB guns.

[00:09:24] That smokey BB BB there might be I don't fucking know there's probably a few canceled

[00:09:29] manga out there that have tried to do that.

[00:09:31] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:32] And Maxie B is perk him up.

[00:09:33] I bet it's something stupid it's like rainbow shot or something like that anyway yeah

[00:09:39] yeah.

[00:09:40] But let's get into the character section so common can you tell us all he didn't finish

[00:09:43] oh fuck sorry we got so distracted.

[00:09:45] No it's fine been and let's prepare for the big turner or he's facing non-Joe yukia I

[00:09:50] hope I pronounced that right.

[00:09:52] It's fine you did you did a great you did a good job.

[00:09:54] I have a tendency not to announce names like like my biggest sin is kakyo and when I use

[00:09:59] pronouncing like kakiya or something like.

[00:10:02] I've heard his name pronounce two or three different ways in official media so it's

[00:10:06] okay.

[00:10:07] Anyway non-Joe yukia ping pong genius who actually hates ping pong and talk shit on

[00:10:11] Marin during the match Dan is doing really well which makes yukia big mad four years later

[00:10:17] I guess.

[00:10:18] Yeah I'm thinking fuck you just going forward.

[00:10:21] Dan and Marin are now dating and reminisce about that time where they just beat yukia chapter

[00:10:26] ago yeah and then won the tournament as Dan repairs the head back to Germany to go pro

[00:10:31] yep.

[00:10:32] I'm actually glad that the manga did get like a proper ending and then just get canceled

[00:10:37] but it's like that's a big left turn.

[00:10:41] It's a lot better than smoky BB which like they're still going until literally five chapters

[00:10:47] before the ending where they just have the first match in the tournament which they lose

[00:10:52] and then in like the last couple pages it shows the main female character like holding

[00:10:58] framed picture of them wearing like the metal where it's like ah they won the whole

[00:11:05] tournament.

[00:11:06] They eventually just go like look at this photograph doesn't it take you back.

[00:11:11] Makes me laugh you know what the hell is on Joey's head you know as what I said there's

[00:11:17] like three different ways them on it can end like so where are the three Jordan help me

[00:11:20] if I'm wrong so it's time skip to the end pretend it doesn't end so there's one where

[00:11:25] it's like jump forward oh man you know that was cool we did it yeah the other one is where

[00:11:32] that's like they just shock on the entire plot and three chapters they shock on the entire

[00:11:37] plot well then there's just a one where it just doesn't end and you're just like there is no ending

[00:11:40] where's the rest of this yeah there is no ending and there's one where it's like it's sort

[00:11:46] of in between where it doesn't end but they're kind of just like we're gonna keep going

[00:11:50] and then it's like done by yep demons plan famously had one where it was just like it seemed

[00:11:57] like it had another chapter like there was like sort of a cliffhanger that did not feel like

[00:12:02] the manga was even remotely over but there just wasn't another chapter it's yeah our researcher

[00:12:09] um maxi v had to be like no there is no more material this is actually how it is all right but we

[00:12:14] do let we're gonna let's talk about the characters now that we actually can so common do you

[00:12:19] want to tell us about Don the main character yeah done to Don that on that's a good one well basically

[00:12:24] Don happens to be quarter light quarter white his grandpa was a progian germany he's a quarter

[00:12:30] light he's like he just has like a really small death note yeah it's a bunch of sticky notes

[00:12:36] it's the death sticky note if he sticks the note on you it's how it triggers is being

[00:12:41] sticky with the note instead of knowing their name oh my god he's got the power of the spin unfortunately

[00:12:47] he's not from a part seven of JoJo where that would actually matter now if he was Italian

[00:12:54] actually know that be more American but yeah yeah he's modest but confident kind of feels like

[00:12:59] you know kind of contradictory there but I guess but and he has a special loop attack he's notably

[00:13:03] a kid who sucks at everything except ping pong like in class he's like sleeping kind of fucking

[00:13:10] sucks at that and then every one of the law for him like fuck I for it you actually have to go

[00:13:14] to school and ping pong academy yeah he's clear he forgot they say I was bullied all the time

[00:13:20] and then we don't ever see him get bullied yeah honestly if I can make me make something I feel like

[00:13:25] maybe the author wasn't expecting this one to be picked up I can't get that vibe you know yeah it

[00:13:30] was like oh man yeah what if I've just made like a ping pong manga as like a joke and then was

[00:13:35] like oh fuck now I have to do it we had that happen in urf job where if you read it and you're like

[00:13:40] I don't know where this goes from here and then you read the rest of the manga like yeah near to

[00:13:44] the author yeah earth child was like a decent one shot that shouldn't have gone past them

[00:13:51] best one shot we ever read hey yeah not best but like decent but yeah so he's just kind of the

[00:13:58] generic like he only cares about ping pong so he has no other character death which is like a trap

[00:14:02] like this is a really the series is just a great example of all the failings you can have when

[00:14:06] making a sports manga yeah but we'll definitely say that for later George do you want to tell us

[00:14:09] about Marin the scendary queen she that you she Madine as we mentioned earlier she is scendary

[00:14:17] is fuck to the point where she honestly is really annoying sometimes like great she's talks about

[00:14:24] great she is all the time she's like I'm beautiful I'm so great oh man aren't I so beautiful

[00:14:31] and she's like such a prodigy to the point where it's like she's super famous which made me kind

[00:14:37] of feel like this was almost a Yu-Gi-Oh universe where you know you know how in Yu-Gi-Oh card games are

[00:14:43] like inexplicably the most important thing in the entire world it kind of made me wonder if she's

[00:14:49] like an international superstar is ping pong just like way more important than I thought it was

[00:14:55] and Yu-Gi-Oh makes sense because the character who would I would probably say fits that would be

[00:14:59] Kaiba Kaiba actually did what he could because he turned his father's weapon company into a gaming

[00:15:05] company and made a deal with Pegasus so it kind of makes sense why the world would take that way

[00:15:10] because it was like oh we don't want to make weapons of war anymore so we might as well solve

[00:15:14] things through card games because ironically it does get bloodier in some instances but it's not

[00:15:19] as you know you're not expecting like an entire nuke to come out of a card game you know also they

[00:15:24] have giant holographic 3d representations that seem real and the cards are literally magic so

[00:15:33] that makes some more sense in that world I wish there was like some supernatural thing with the

[00:15:38] ping-pong that would be great but there was not well doesn't need to be supernatural either it could

[00:15:42] be like digital too do you think ping pong academies are real like it's such a weird sport to be

[00:15:48] that hyper focused i don't know to be fairing there are actually schools for like other things like

[00:15:53] there's karate school and their school for chess i wouldn't be surprised there were actual ping-pong

[00:15:58] schools but they probably wouldn't be like no massive they probably like you know like clubs or

[00:16:02] be like part of like an athletic school you know yeah i also want to say one less thing i really

[00:16:07] want to give off a props for it well he definitely sexualizes her but not to the insane decree

[00:16:11] we've seen in other manga like yeah black clover like she actually is drawn like a 13 year old

[00:16:17] like the only time that i have raised an eyebrow was basically like in the first chapter where

[00:16:21] there's an upskirts shop but there was like this huge like word balloon right there that covered

[00:16:25] up everything which you know i appreciate it was on purpose yeah we've read manga that uh

[00:16:31] really likes 12 year olds and we're not going to go into that oh you poor souls you poor poor

[00:16:37] souls oh don't read school judgment oh it was bad i am surprised that the romance takes off in

[00:16:43] the last fucking chapter which pissed me off because i guess that it would go nowhere yeah it was

[00:16:47] really stupid and they just have fallen in love in the four-year time skip all right but let's get

[00:16:53] into the next character so we have ottsushi uh nirukawa nirukawa i think not a kawa ottsushi yeah that

[00:17:00] guy he is determined he's top player he's always fresh but i don't know if he's really the top player

[00:17:03] because it's like weird where he is in the hierarchy on their team but he's like supposed to have

[00:17:07] probably been the rival but the main character beats him in their first encounter so it's like

[00:17:11] are they rivals like you're a beat i don't think he's supposed to be a rival i think he's i don't

[00:17:16] really know what his purpose was i mean tell you they speak like rivals don't have to beat you

[00:17:21] in the first one i mean look at kaiwa and yugi i mean yugi beat him in the first match

[00:17:25] yeah but kaiwa's got a lot more going on yeah if this went on i feel like he would have

[00:17:29] kind of been a mentor figure i mean the thing is there's like five mentor figures

[00:17:34] he's like the only freshman on team of like pros also damn his hair looks good man yeah it's kid

[00:17:40] this fucking kid man it does hair really well for some reason yeah i mean there's a character that doesn't

[00:17:46] have hair in the thirteenth chapter it's like all dear god he's like a thumb yeah and then um

[00:17:53] so i guess common case also about the last character mr. zoomer always on their phone

[00:17:58] oh i'm gonna tell you the can always on their phone yeah okay non-jou yukiya he's a fucking dick

[00:18:05] he loves clash of clans although personally i consider him more of a rage shadow legends

[00:18:11] oh yeah that's definitely what it is he's playing rage shadow legends his favorite youtuber got paid

[00:18:16] to sponsor it so he's like yeah let me check it out and he doesn't even care that the game sucks

[00:18:22] by the way rage shadow legends uh we will edit that out if you pay us

[00:18:27] we can be bought i've already sold my shoulder them a few times so it's like i don't care

[00:18:32] hey you know you gotta get that money no disrespect especially in this economy but anyway

[00:18:37] i respect it he hates table tennis and he's from a family of doctors which doesn't really matter

[00:18:43] i guess it's sort of implied that like he did table tennis because he sucked at school and so his parents

[00:18:51] like he he heard his parents basically saying damn our son's an idiot so he like became

[00:18:56] he really good at table tennis to be like look i'm a genius actually look i'm not stupid

[00:19:02] nah i'm good at shit that was actually one of the plot points if you get gx where it's like chaz

[00:19:06] his brothers were like prodigies and they're like well you're gonna tick over the you-gill world to

[00:19:10] make up for the fact that you can't do business shit and then he is the same thing really is this

[00:19:15] the main character now he adds nothing oh yeah not actually that actually worked for him too because

[00:19:19] he had to claw his way up to the top again yep yeah i love though how the manga i guess he kind

[00:19:25] of forgot he was ending so we dedicate so much time and he's like oh shf i've really shouldn't

[00:19:29] know spent like three chapters on this dude at the end of the series just drops so basically the

[00:19:36] conflict between yukia and dan is that yukia fucking he's like a prodigy to the point where he

[00:19:44] like represents japan and like in like the nationals or internationals or whatever but the thing

[00:19:50] is like he fucking hates table tennis and he's like playing a match is like going to hell it's like

[00:19:57] damn dude he's like i'm gonna show you hell in this match all right speaking of that yeah let's get

[00:20:05] into more reasons why this manga failed yeah so comment what really stands out to you as some issues

[00:20:09] with the series well i actually have like three specific things i want to bring up with this

[00:20:14] i'll do it the first is that it lacks like imagination because i get it i am not a sports manga fan but

[00:20:21] when you look at some things like hikar no go or you know the prince of tennis they really play around

[00:20:27] with a camera work right there and it makes it a lot more epic this manga tries it but at the same

[00:20:32] time it doesn't really do much especially considering that in ping pong you're most of the time

[00:20:37] just taking like a step to the right or left and unless you're doing like that whole thing like

[00:20:42] the huge ceiling in one of the chapters against dan i mean yeah against can and con like yeah can

[00:20:48] don and con yeah it doesn't really stick out now normally when you have like stuff that is kind

[00:20:56] of boring like especially if you know like i'm gonna be making like a reference to cardvite van guard

[00:21:02] which i've actually watched yeah it's actually i was supposed to be a rival of you go with a more

[00:21:06] modern take on card game shows and stuff they actually had a manga too what's that called

[00:21:12] cardvite van guard yeah it's an RTCG yeah oh my friend Nigel actually played it yeah it's actually

[00:21:19] a pretty good game unfortunately didn't get as much traction in the states as i would have liked

[00:21:22] and that when they were playing games they were playing like a game they would often imagine

[00:21:27] themselves as being like the lead monster and imagine the monsters you could have done something

[00:21:31] similar to this where they basically have like the match be more at an imaginative state like imagining

[00:21:38] like the ping pong ball was basically an energy orb or something like two warriors clashing like

[00:21:44] imagine like how uh you know food wars often has like those really over the top like scenes

[00:21:49] and stuff like that not the fans are a spot right there i'm talking obviously yeah i know they

[00:21:53] had like a jojo reference between like ebby and lobster and stuff like that stuff like that would

[00:21:59] really you know heighten this up maybe that Dan imagines himself in various scenarios against

[00:22:05] opponents and that helps him focus something like that would have been really good well i mean

[00:22:09] you kind of touched on it where it's like uh they they do try some different camera angles but all

[00:22:14] it does is make the manga more confusing yeah because it's hard to figure out where the balls going

[00:22:21] and like how fast it's going if it's getting missed or not which are all very important things

[00:22:27] in ping pong it kind of turns into a situation where i just have to read the dialogue to figure out

[00:22:33] well was that good or bad yeah there was a lot of scenes where like again i didn't actually know he

[00:22:38] beat con in that game until they were like oh and then he beat on and i was like when did that happen

[00:22:43] i do not like con but yes i love how we're mixing the two up i love how we're mixing the two up

[00:22:49] that brings me to another thing which is that match between con the author really

[00:22:54] fucked up by having it like six chapters i think yeah no the the reason that he that it became

[00:23:01] that way is that the author had them do uh like a five game match first to three wins so it should

[00:23:49] you know you don't want to linger too long on a specific scene especially early on because otherwise

[00:23:54] you're going to get like people who are being bored even if it's like you have the most epic of

[00:23:58] battles it's kind of like the same thing that people complained about with like you know filler and

[00:24:03] one piece or how dragon balls Z fights would take many many episodes to get through you know yeah

[00:24:08] and it's like i understand why that's done but for a new series especially at the beginning this is

[00:24:13] something that can easily kill interest in your story yeah this is why i think that the author didn't

[00:24:18] know what he was doing or didn't think that this would have gone through because otherwise it feels

[00:24:23] like this is just like a rush thing or trying to build up time so we could figure out where he wants

[00:24:27] to go with his story that was a big issue from chapter one the entire time i was like what is

[00:24:32] the actual long-term plot of this manga and i don't think they ever actually answer it like there

[00:24:36] isn't some tournament there isn't some status he's already really good at his sport there are two

[00:24:40] different directions when it comes to sports manga is either the person learning to get good at

[00:24:43] the sport or the person learning to kind of flesh out the rest of his life outside of his skill in

[00:24:49] this sport and this series and definitely like for instance slam dunkers great example of someone's

[00:24:53] progression learning the sport i still 21 is opposite where he's already in the top one

[00:24:57] percent of people in his sport so it's all about everything else besides literally his ability to play

[00:25:01] this sport relatively speaking i also kind of feel like the author should have just given up on the

[00:25:06] romance like oh well he did and then he was like oh i can actually have to resolve this plot i still

[00:25:12] wanted to do this so let me do it and then the last chapter with like very little build up the

[00:25:17] make here just like hey mardine by the way i love you and that she's like i love you too

[00:25:23] now this is my third one but there was actually hints of their possibly being a love triangle with

[00:25:28] one of the other female students i can't yeah she asked him out and he like turns her down or

[00:25:33] something i think he's just too dumb to know what's happening i think i think it's like you know

[00:25:37] that kind of trope where it's like he doesn't even realize that she's into him and then you can tell

[00:25:42] when mardine shows up and she's like whoa mardine is interested in him it's like man

[00:25:47] those women you know what i mean they get a little bit of rivalry now she's in there now she's

[00:25:53] in there you know what i mean of course this leads into my third issue and that's the characterization

[00:25:59] that's like we've been hinting at it throughout this entire discussion so far but Dan is just not

[00:26:03] an interesting main character no he's not no and it's like you got like yeah i talked about this

[00:26:09] in like my mashup video where there's like always that get this standard anime protagonist you know

[00:26:15] with the spiky hair he's young he's got like he's either dumb and something but he's also a talented

[00:26:21] another thing it's like this is what people complain about when they talk about like stereotyping main

[00:27:12] like the serious changes when they're playing ping pong i was gonna say this in this lineage

[00:27:20] are out of combat and then what in combat and you see the characters get drawn different during

[00:27:25] the ping pong scene yes which ties in how his personality also changes so i'm just imagining

[00:28:22] it's like behind them yeah and like it's it's supposed to be metaphorical but it's like what the

[00:28:27] fuck is going on you i think has to stem from like the the whole thing right there because unless you're

[00:28:34] doing like a balls of fury thing making a story about ping pong it's not gonna be that interesting

[00:28:39] unless you like take it to a fantastical what manner you know yeah i i definitely want to talk about

[00:28:44] them and then where it could have gone so two other things is they also completely gloss over

[00:28:48] doubles where he spends like half a page talking about doubles match and they just show it and i'm

[00:28:52] like it should not be like a big deal that's like another major component of playing ping pong yeah

[00:28:56] it was his first ever doubles match and they just don't give a shit it also could have been a time

[00:29:01] for him to bond with Marty yeah because like there's sort of something seeming to be there just by

[00:29:09] like narrative implications but they haven't actually shown any kind of moment where the characters

[00:29:23] yeah there's like they could have a scene where they're chasing with the ball and they trip over

[00:29:36] that kind of thing but they usually do with like oh we bump do each other in the hallway you know

[00:29:51] i would expect from a maca yeah the last thing is also this mug it does not give a fuck about

[00:29:56] anything that's not really to ping pong and it does a terrible job of pretending it does yeah

[00:30:38] actually making you follow the panels like you'll see the motion lines literally they'll stand

[00:30:42] to serve and the motion line leads you to the next panel and those are those little things that

[00:30:45] are very easy for sports series to fuck up so while it does have issues that's at least one

[00:30:49] of the fundamentals i think it did right and just yeah it's fucks up so many other things but

[00:30:53] i want to at least give it credit for not fucking up that you know um i will say the art in general

[00:30:58] is pretty good in the series like it's not great i i feel like with sports manga in particular you

[00:31:04] really have to have good art yeah recently read a boxing manga that had terrible proportions where

[00:31:09] it's like boxing is like one of the most important sports to have ever improperly proportioned you know

[00:31:14] like get your anatomy right yeah especially in like uh with that you have to make sure like

[00:31:18] weight class now the people actually look like they're in the right you know weight brackets

[00:31:23] this manga had a kid whose whole thing was that one of his arms was way bigger than the other one

[00:31:32] oh we made a lot of jacking off jokes don't worry yeah i was gonna say like that runs you're

[00:31:36] like that one Homer Simpson gagry just kept on lifting a dumbbell for like about a few months and

[00:31:41] then mo basically goes hey why'd you come with me we'll scam people out of money with arm wrestling

[00:31:46] um but yeah his whole thing was he would he would dislocate his arm while punching and it was like

[00:33:24] the ex a lot of the explanation for why yukiya was the way he was is that when you compete at

[00:33:29] something for so long it stops being just you know it stops being a thing that you do for fun

[00:33:35] starts being a serious thing that has like stakes and so it's like this is no longer just like a

[00:33:41] goofy thing this is like no this is like my job almost i and you are fucking with my job whereas don

[00:33:49] has never competed before so that's that's like an interesting kind of explanation because it's like

[00:33:55] it's not just that don magically likes it more so that don hasn't been put in that position like um

[00:34:01] you know not to go jump into the next section already but it's like you could have had a thing where

[00:34:06] it's like as the series went on don became more jaded with it and he wound up more like yukiya

[00:34:11] becomes punished on yes yeah he loses an eye in the thing and then you can have a thing where

[00:34:23] something i want to bring up that you know i was kind of hoping they would do but they kind of

[00:36:52] mold you into the man that your grandfather was something like that could have been a good idea

[00:36:57] that would have meant that uh his grandfather being important would have mattered in the series

[00:37:02] no one gave us it they were all like who did not matter there were so many moments where it's like

[00:37:12] note of romance it would have been nice if they had actually had female characters that actually

[00:37:16] interacted with him in character besides her because there's one character whose entire purpose

[00:37:19] is a fall in love but it's like you don't even have like a female manager or something that like

[00:37:23] will regularly show up during the games it's like there's nothing i mean there was like there was

[00:37:27] like a teacher i think and then there was also like i'm just gonna call him right of shadow legends

[00:37:33] player now his mother showed up a few times maybe it would have been better for this to be more

[00:37:39] of a duderagonist kind of thing it seems like that's where it was trying to go and then failed like

[00:37:45] the series is 70 30 done and modding i would have liked it to be more 50 50 you know like first

[00:37:51] chapter maybe you kind of line it up like that and it's it's like oh man when these two meet uh

[00:37:56] because then what you would have done is you they mention all there's like a female league

[00:38:00] like there's uh there's a league of table tennis for girls and i'm kicking ass there and it's like

[00:38:05] i kind of would like to see that more um it would have been nice also if they had told

[00:38:10] talked more about how don'ts kind of socially awkward where you see has like trouble

[00:38:13] maintaining his personality in the match and maybe that's like the development form as i talked

[00:38:17] about earlier how technically he's a very good player so we don't really need to see him learn

[00:38:21] how to get better at ping pong but that doesn't mean he still can't get better at other things like

[00:38:24] maybe he doesn't have any friends in Japan it's like about how he's socializing with people that's

[00:51:40] school based show that has like no interesting characters coming out or got your artist pretty good

[00:51:44] so far it's actually got an alchemy feel to it now i was gonna ask if like you were into common

[00:51:52] writer based on your name you had to be right you know he just has that name first on actually it is

[00:53:48] writer build it basically has like this whole war thing going on and it's got some of the most wicked

[00:53:55] designs not to mention when they transform they have like some of the best callouts like
