[00:00:09] And welcome to Shonen Flop Chibi!

[00:00:11] First impressions, many episodes where we talk about the first chapter this year will be covering in-depth next week with our guest Dylan.

[00:00:18] I'm Jordan with me today as usual is my lovely co-host David say hi David.

[00:00:23] Hi David.

[00:00:25] What? Wait a minute.

[00:00:26] Fuck out!

[00:00:27] That's Dylan's music!

[00:00:31] Oh yeah, that's right everybody.

[00:00:32] David is still on his honeymoon so instead of him we are joined rather I am joined by our wonderful editor Dylan

[00:00:43] both this podcast and of course anime out of context was all of you know judging from the extremely explicit

[00:00:50] patron names that we frequently get talking about all the disgusting sexual things you like to do the host of that podcast but anyway how you doing Dylan?

[00:00:58] I am doing aside from being you know a little sick a little coffee feels like I deep-throated a cactus aside from that I'm feeling fantastic and I'm really excited

[00:01:07] to talk about the first chapter of this because what the fuck I know right and speaking of that Dylan what is the series that we're covering this week?

[00:01:17] We are covering service wars.

[00:01:20] Whoa! Oh my god and Dylan who's this by I feel like this is a little bit of a shown in flop alum that we're dealing with this week?

[00:01:29] This is by Hata Mone su run.

[00:01:33] I'm assuming I'm pronouncing that is bad as correctly as David would you're doing better than David would don't worry about it.

[00:01:40] What if there manga has he covered a bit on the show?

[00:01:42] He did metama security.

[00:01:45] Okay so at least one other.

[00:01:47] Yeah which I really liked David likes but not as much as me.

[00:01:52] We're not talking about that today we're talking about service wars and that ran for March 26 2023 to December 3rd 2023 for 40 chapters in four volumes a little bit of a thick one this time.

[00:02:05] Yeah a little bit longer than especially the one that was covered last week.

[00:02:09] Oh god that one still felt like it went on too long even though it was a chapters.

[00:02:14] The truest of the U19s.

[00:02:17] So U19 that the author himself was like this sucks I'm done and he was right he was right enough about that let's get to the fucking first chapter plot summary in the mountains alone waiter stands off against a bear with a fish in hand.

[00:02:34] The waiter smacks it with the fish serving it its food.

[00:02:37] Meanwhile the agimaru restaurant is going under run by owner Iwau and his daughter Renga inside a mostly abandoned shopping mall they're in dire financial straights partly because you wow keeps giving bro hungry people free food what a fucking bastard am I right?

[00:02:56] Oh the worst of the worst.

[00:02:58] Oh you're fucking up the free market man.

[00:03:00] One day however a starving waiter named Nasa Nosuke collapses outside to try and serve food but he keeps switching places and serving them food instead I actually really like that was really good I enjoyed how like they were just caught off guards like wait what I'm being served yeah like they'd pour water from him and

[00:03:20] next thing I know they'd be sitting down and he'd be handing them the water they'd be like how the fuck did this happen eventually though he eats what they give him and is so taken aback by their generosity that he does a crazy dance outside saying that their ramen is the best ramen of the world which attracts a ton of customers to the struggling diner Nasa Nosuke then takes it upon himself to be the wait staff delivering excellent customer service one notorious customer named stop watch sekaguchi what a bastard oh fuck this guy.

[00:03:48] The fucking worse he's the bubble bass of this fucking manga absolutely stop watch sekaguchi times every single interaction with the wait staff in the other complain if it's just a little too slow.

[00:04:04] This is where I realize this author has worked to service position this author has been a waiter you could just feel it where it's just I don't know if anybody specifically did that but this guy knows

[00:04:17] what's super fucking annoying when you're working at a job like this. This is the kind of person that would go to a drive through they would be after you've thrown out most of the food because you're open for like another three minutes you don't expect anyone oh yeah you cleared out most of the overstock and then they pull up and demand everything be made fully fresh

[00:04:35] and then they're timing you the whole fucking time and they're throwing a fit they want coupons that's this asshole. The kind of guy who goes in right before you close exactly yes that is this motherfucker

[00:04:46] yeah fortunately that's a no-ske guest exactly what he wanted before he walked in in raging sekaguchi who just really wanted to complain because in fact sekaguchi is nicknamed aside from stopwatch is also Karen.

[00:04:59] He is the quintessential here and again it just feels like this guy had a specific customer in mind when he wrote this where he's just like oh yeah I hate that guy so much.

[00:05:10] Sekaguchi is eerieous he wanted to be the god of this restaurant the second he stepped in yeah so he responded to this slight by pulling a drone beetle that he just keeps on him for some reason.

[00:05:24] Just in case he receives good service and placing it ever so carefully in his noodles but not so no-ske he is the fucking kindest man he delivers customer service to the drone beetle including polishing it up

[00:05:38] and doing a little twirly display spelling out with glittering lights thank you for your patronage it was beautiful it was glorious this is the definition of killing them with kindness you got to respect he then returns the drone beetle to sekaguchi calling him out saying I saw you do that you can't pull that shit on me.

[00:05:58] I am watching every customer because I care about customer service if somebody is running low I got a fucking be there to refill their water so I fucking saw that shit.

[00:06:09] I've got eyes in the back of my head and not only does he have normal eyes in the back this motherfucker has abergy eyes so good the eyes of the goddess of hospitality which basically are just the shoring gun for customer service yes yes.

[00:06:24] Thank you good she is really embarrassed for trying to start all this and realizing it's back fired he's panicking so he just bolts yeah he tries to pull the diamond dash oh yeah no fuck this guy so much.

[00:06:36] Oh yeah and he was the entire time while not some no-ske was you know polishing the drone beetle doing giving it great service he was trying to call attention saying hey give these people a better view record all of this post down line.

[00:06:49] Sekaguchi thought that he was owning this dude by filming it but he played right into not some no-ske's hand so while Sekaguchi is sprinting away and that's no-ske decides to kindly thank him for his patronage by smashing him into the ground with a well deserved headbutt.

[00:07:09] I did question how this was good customer service but I also respected that he did that.

[00:07:15] I think it was the way he did it because he was mid bow he was bowing to the customer is pretty good and he just smashed him into the concrete breaks were flying it was glorious.

[00:07:28] Also to be fair this dude was dying and dashing if you're gonna fucking die in dash if they can catch you it's on you yeah end hey this guy you know even though he

[00:07:37] Dined and dashed not some no-ske was still like don't worry I'll cover your food which all that is so incredibly kind.

[00:07:45] Oh my god so good such incredible customer service that I am sure Sekaguchi was so mad because it was like god damn it.

[00:07:54] That's the kind of person where if you show them actual genuine kindness it makes them even more mad just again to reiterate this guy had a specific customer in mind

[00:08:05] and has worked and dealt with these motherfuckers he literally has Sekaguchi be like I didn't actually want good customer service.

[00:08:12] I just wanted to come in here and complain I'm the god of this restaurant as the customer and it was like feeling so hard man that I hate these guys.

[00:08:21] Getting customer service PTSD flashbacks but not some of us get built different he is actually begs to be hired by the restaurant which of course they hire him.

[00:08:32] We mentioned bubble bass earlier and this is like the first episode of SpongeBob where SpongeBob comes in and serves all the nematodes and Mr. Krabs like damn you're hired dude.

[00:08:42] Oh my god shit that would have been a great power where it spun Bob but damn how could you not hire him after that?

[00:08:50] Oh yeah absolutely.

[00:08:52] He literally brought in a ton of people and then delivered fantastic customer service what the fuck else could you expect he's like in one single day he basically saved your restaurant from going under.

[00:09:04] I mean not to mention worst case scenario haven't be outside playing the noodles with chopsticks like a violin.

[00:09:12] Oh it was great that is something I had never seen before that was killer.

[00:09:17] I also love how when they find him he's on the ground they think he's dead and he spelled out something in blood but he actually spelled out everything on some menu all the food in red wine just kingship but yeah so he's hired.

[00:09:32] And you know he's kind of in a rough bit but he also begs replace to say and I'm assuming the restaurant just let they let him stay there right.

[00:09:41] He's paying back everything.

[00:09:43] Oh and then some.

[00:09:45] They basically owe their restaurant to him oh man so let's get into the first impressions if you can't tell I think we're both kind of into this so far.

[00:09:55] Oh yeah there's a particular frame of Sekiguchi where he says okay now I'm lost and it's just a perfect reaction image that I feel deserves to be everyone's reaction of this first chapter.

[00:10:10] I feel like if you work customer service this is going to there's something real about this.

[00:10:16] Oh yeah like I keep bringing it up but this feels like this guy has worked this exact job and dealt with these exact customers and was just like God fuck those guys and you know what?

[00:10:26] If somebody's work customer service yeah fuck those guys.

[00:10:29] Oh yeah and I can only imagine some of the other customers that are going to be coming in as this progresses because there are some real bastards out there man.

[00:10:37] I remember I used to work at a pet store which got killed by COVID because everybody just decided to do Chewie instead which makes sense.

[00:10:46] And I'll never forget this woman got really mad at me because I said goodbye in at the wrong time and she was like are you trying to push me out of the store?

[00:10:57] I mean the reality I was just kind of burned out not operating automatically but she got so mad she talked to my manager about it.

[00:11:03] Oh my God no the worst customer actually was this lady who would straight up bring her Chihuahua into our store and let her Chihuahua pee everywhere.

[00:11:12] Not tell us she do this multiple times she did this all the time like as soon as she came in she would do this one time I just straight up grabbed like a paper towel and like some cleaning spray

[00:11:25] and she was going to happen and I just kind of watched and then I cleaned whatever her dog peed and she got really upset that I was following her and told my manager my manager was just like Jordan.

[00:11:34] I know I know it sucks oh my God but you can't do that and oh I understand yeah yeah no I know the type I've I used to work at a friendly local gaming store as they were known in the community.

[00:11:50] And every Thursday evening was Yugi-O night.

[00:11:55] Oh the Yugi-O players for the most part were very pleasant to be around outside of the context of Yugi-O.

[00:12:03] Yeah when a tournament started something lit in their heads and they became the worst fucking people to be around.

[00:12:11] Oh God they were constantly swearing there were children playing it's a family friendly tournament so they were

[00:12:19] cussing up a storm they were slamming down on the table flipping tables.

[00:12:24] Oh God just like scooping and locking out they would eat at the tables instead of the designated areas that are for eating and playing they would eat at the fabric covered

[00:12:33] tables. Gracious pizza and one night after they had all left I was one of like three people left in store I was cleaning up all of it and I said I can't believe we let them do all of this.

[00:12:44] One person who overheard was the tournament judge who I guess was on really good terms with the store owner.

[00:12:50] Yeah I was getting paid minimum wage for this I was working 40 50 hour weeks where I was judging magic the gathering tournaments

[00:12:58] I was setting up things where people were learning Warhammer I was learning new board games to give right good

[00:13:05] recommendations and everything and just being their tournaments and everything and the judge hears me complaining minimum wage for all this and he complained to my boss.

[00:13:15] Fuck that who then flipped his fucking shit.

[00:13:19] Oh absolutely lost it at me and said you're lucky I pay you this much if I could pay you less I would.

[00:13:26] Do you think there are people out there that wouldn't kill for this fucking job?

[00:13:29] Fuck off and I did not last until the end of that year.

[00:13:34] I don't blame you that is fucking oh I hate that shit so much like the fucking entitlement like I was lucky enough to have like a boss who I liked God that sucks like come on man.

[00:13:47] Honestly the boss was really cool except for that one moment something about that really set him off aside from that he was a cool guy who was honestly now that I think about it pretty problematic because everyone at the store aside from maybe two people that worked at all of his stores were everyone

[00:14:03] in the store aside from two people were under the age of 21. He would regularly have parties at his house where people got fucking slosh.

[00:14:11] Oh no oh God know what I think about it that's not great no no no no no no no no not great customer service people that implies other crimes that I won't get into.

[00:14:25] As far as I know there were no other crimes but that is to my knowledge I worked there less than a year.

[00:14:30] Okay understood as you guys could see working at customer service jobs can often be traumatic lot of things will get repressed for a while.

[00:14:39] Yeah until a manga like this drags it all out and then you're just forced to confront it in the daylight for the absurdity that it is.

[00:14:46] But you know what it's alright because the thing is this manga is kind of cathartic for me you know it's like yes thank you thank you you get it.

[00:14:55] I look forward to all the times not so no skis going to find that problem customer and just give them exactly what they deserve.

[00:15:02] Yes such respect but Dylan would you read another 10 chapters of this.

[00:15:06] Oh hell yeah especially if it gets weirder.

[00:15:08] Oh yeah especially near the end is where they introduce things getting really weird with like the polishing the beetle on the light show and the

[00:15:15] opera gene eyes. I want things to just level up in weirdness each chapter but not go too over the top.

[00:15:22] Yeah how about you Jordan?

[00:15:24] Oh absolutely hell yeah.

[00:15:26] I'm so down show me all of this catharsis I need to see more customers getting put in their fucking place in a way that does not threaten this man's job or

[00:15:38] anything just matter spec'd but what do you think is going to happen next Dylan.

[00:15:43] I think we're going to see a lot more characters with heavily food themed design because I don't know if we went over this Nosan osuke his entire design from his outfit to his hair is eggplant his

[00:15:53] hair is purple with the little black stem his outfit is like a very green and purple kind of like the striped aubergines you'll occasionally see he is eggplant.

[00:16:03] I feel like there was something like that in me Thomas security where I think the main character looked like some vegetable I mean I could be

[00:16:12] remember this completely wrong I don't think it was an aubergines my again might be wrong but that might be like something this author does.

[00:16:18] It really fits with this as well so hopefully this is where his character designs get to shine yes I think we're going to see that Nosan osuke is probably going to like reveal that he's the last surviving worshipper of Omo to Nosu the goddess of hospitality when he explains his

[00:16:33] aubergines eyes yes and Renka is going to have a fucking part.

[00:16:37] Oh man like a literal one.

[00:16:40] I look at her face.

[00:16:42] Now there's maybe two panels she's in where she's not just having a hypertension.

[00:16:46] Oh my god moment we didn't really mention Renka that much in this episode but she mainly exists to react to the

[00:16:56] insane shit that is going on and she's just the reaction images that's all she is yeah they

[00:17:01] she doesn't have much agency aside from being a reaction image unfortunately no you know it's manga.

[00:17:07] Yeah it's manga and this is a manga about specifically Nosan osuke.

[00:17:13] Yes and the service he provides so I get it.

[00:17:16] It's not like the owner was that much of a character in this chapter either no not really how about you Jordan what are

[00:17:23] what are some of your guesses what's going to be coming up so first I think there's going to be basketball in this manga you see something

[00:17:29] I also know about this author that you will learn if you read metama security is he adores basketball basketball really yeah

[00:17:39] and there was one line in this chapter where the words slam dunk is mentioned.

[00:17:45] He did mention slam dunk I believe in regards to like a customer service slam dunk for reference there is a ghost in

[00:17:54] metama security who is like a basketball player and he's saying these strange words and I looked it up and it's just it was

[00:18:02] just the full name of decambe matambo that's all it was because he has like five middle names

[00:18:08] and then there was like a training sequence where he was supposedly learning to be like a better metama

[00:18:13] security spiritbuster I guess and then it turns out he was just training to be good at basketball so

[00:18:18] basketball is a big deal to the sky and did has he written a basketball manga yet I don't know but like me

[00:18:23] top of security was like half ghost busting and half basketball like I'm not exaggerating I really like it but

[00:18:31] next there will be a competing service worker with their own superpowers kind of like a rival to

[00:18:37] nassin osuke they show up at a food stall across the way or something someone like right next door yeah

[00:18:43] where he's just like the best host in the world or something and lastly I think we will meet

[00:18:48] nassin osuke's master the one who trained him to be the best waiter in the world do you think his master is

[00:18:54] the bear that we see in like the first panel oh man you know this this you're seeing the bear the bear

[00:19:01] yeah the movie I mean the show no the bear I highly recommend it it's really good the most stressful TV show

[00:19:08] I've ever watched it swept the Emmys just so you know it is a series about a guy trying to run a

[00:19:15] restaurant like he takes over this restaurant from his dead brother and his name is like Carmen

[00:19:20] Beersato or something so they call him the bear and the first thing that happens in the whole series is

[00:19:26] he has he has a dream where he's like standing up to a bear very similar to the first thing we see

[00:19:33] in this chapter okay so that's that seems like a very a very loving homage then oh you know I was

[00:19:40] gonna say that this came out before the bear I don't think I don't know when did the what did the

[00:19:44] bear come out 20s-122 so it is possible it is possible that this was relevant I don't know how

[00:19:50] popular the bear is in Japan but yeah the bear great show and it's funny because they do at one

[00:19:56] point talk about excellent customer service at like a fantastic restaurant and somebody's like yeah

[00:20:02] we actually research all of our guests before they show up so that we know what they want and we can

[00:20:08] surprise them that's creepy as shit it is creepy but it was also like oh man that like when

[00:20:14] Nassenosuke said that he submitted it before the guy showed up I got heavy bear vibes so my power

[00:20:22] word is bear hey hey that's fitting that's fitting mine is super oh because super and super super

[00:20:32] solid yeah let's get into that fucking q&a so we could hear what you want to know David's not here

[00:20:43] so I have to do this all the dome if you would like to submit questions you could do so on the designated

[00:20:49] channel in our discord server please come in and ask a question we do give priority to patrons

[00:20:57] people have not asked a question before where people haven't had their question answered in quite

[00:21:01] a while first question what's the worst song to play when the dad walks their daughter down the aisle

[00:21:07] so Jordan yeah are you familiar with a little band called steel panther oh god yes

[00:21:16] I don't think there's a single steel panther song that wouldn't be terrible to do this with now I was

[00:21:21] thinking originally for a for a father walking their daughter down the aisle you want to go with

[00:21:26] something sweet something that you know has these moments of just just the love that a father can

[00:21:32] have for their daughter just to bring everything together nice emotional build up so steel panthers

[00:21:38] sweetest song to my recollection girl from Oklahoma oh that sounds very sweet not familiar with that one

[00:21:45] yeah it's incredibly sweet in fact I'll pull up some the lyrics for you please do well I bet

[00:21:49] you never guessed when you came to the show you'd be getting on the bus with me and doing some

[00:21:54] your mom is in the parking lot looking for you she's gonna find you when I'm done I'll covered with

[00:21:59] goo I'm not gonna go any further because that's a little bit too much for this show I appreciate

[00:22:04] not going any further but I also see your point I went kind of a different route where I thought about

[00:22:09] a song that somebody would actually play at a wedding because everybody misses one line and

[00:22:16] they play it at wedding dances and shit and they really really should not that is train in vain by

[00:22:21] the clash oh okay I thought you were gonna go with the police but okay don't say so close to me

[00:22:27] that's also a really bad song to play but I was thinking because the thing about train in vain is

[00:22:33] that the chorus is everybody thinks it's like you gotta stand by me but it's actually you didn't

[00:22:39] stand by me no not at all you didn't stand by me no way oh that's kind of a fuck you song then

[00:22:46] it's a song about the the singer getting dumped by his girlfriend out of nowhere and like

[00:22:52] losing his place to stay because he was staying with her like it's bad I mean it's a great song

[00:23:00] I think that's a pretty solid one yeah next up we have from Glormack Iron Spawn what is Jordan

[00:23:07] whorthing down in his profile pic on the show and flop website looks good if you can't remember

[00:23:11] what's your go to sandwich order so what that is is I mentioned working at a pet store earlier

[00:23:17] please tell me it's not one of the pets no that is me on my last day working at the pet store

[00:23:23] there was a pizza place right next to next door I was the only one in the store so I just got a slice

[00:23:30] of pizza and just fucking ate it right there behind the register when nobody was there and I just

[00:23:35] took a photo this is like fucking whatever I think it was a mushroom pizza I don't entirely remember

[00:23:40] but it was a slice of pizza hell yeah nice it's pretty good I don't remember the name of the place

[00:23:45] you know let's go into this what what is your go to sandwich order you know I'm a fan of the Italian

[00:23:49] hoagie you know gotta get that provolone that oil and vinegar I like to put some mayo on it which

[00:23:56] I don't know some people might view as heretical but I don't care there's some really good mayo

[00:24:01] that they're especially if they're homemade and they're not just like your normal scoop from a can

[00:24:05] may look pretty solid it can be I don't do that because I'm not fancy but you're right

[00:24:11] fair what's your sandwich order personally what I really like to do there is a I've

[00:24:16] I've been saw like um there's a local sub shop called Mochis and they have a award-winning sub

[00:24:22] called the atomic meatball their meatballs are massive they're renowned in the area I'm sure

[00:24:29] they don't stand up to those from places that actually have competition because this all

[00:24:32] like food seem sucks it is spicy beyond belief I believe there's like roasted habaneros there's

[00:24:40] Chipotle chili garlic aioli oh provolone melted all over the top it is so good so messy and it

[00:24:49] fluxes me off that sounds amazing also you can tell that we're from different places because

[00:24:55] I call it a hoagie and Dylan calls it a sub huh I figured a hoagie was its own specific style but

[00:25:01] you know I have no idea if there's really a distinction a hoagie is just what people from around

[00:25:06] Philadelphia call a sub I I really don't think there's another difference uh and Dylan what's

[00:25:12] your perfect holiday vacation and secretly looking for ideas for next year's holiday season

[00:25:17] this is from Aussie rat and I'm gonna bundle into this would you ever stay at a haunted

[00:25:21] clown motel and I have a little bit of a story about this oh my god of course you do didn't

[00:25:27] all you guys work out like a haunted house or something oh yeah we've all worked at haunted houses

[00:25:33] I've worked at three shannon rem I've only worked at one but they've worked at one for like a decade

[00:25:40] gotcha but now I worked at one that was renowned for being incredibly actually haunted at

[00:25:47] used to be hospital hmm so you did stay at a haunted clown motel yes there are times if it was

[00:25:53] a weekend after my shift I would just we had a bunch of like gurneys and such that were just left

[00:25:59] in the building so I would just I'll go down and spend the night there oh god so I didn't have

[00:26:04] to drive down so in fact in the clown area I have had stayed multiple times oh my god and to answer it

[00:26:11] from my perspective I would stay there for one night if there was a will stipulating that I would

[00:26:17] get a million dollars if I did so honestly I think staying at an out of service haunted house

[00:26:25] would be one of my ideal vacations because it is so fun to just wander around with the lights on

[00:26:31] see all of the animatronics see the way all of the props work see the fantastic set designs that

[00:26:38] are never really appreciated in the dark as you're usually being rushed through really quickly

[00:26:42] yeah so you can't see that they're animatronics yeah as I'm nowadays has an indoor courtyard

[00:26:50] with a river running through it in a fountain and some fantastic statues that you never get to spend

[00:26:57] the time to look at and I think just spending like a week or even just like three days at an out

[00:27:03] of commission or a closed down haunted house for the season and just appreciating all of the art

[00:27:07] next up we have from red blade what books would you like to see so let's think would be good if

[00:27:13] they got a manga adaptation and what about these books would like to see as illustrated scenes or

[00:27:17] think would function well in that front form well I gotta tell you something I'm reading Dracula right

[00:27:22] now oh be pretty sick as a manga adaptation also things like Helsing have really not not that

[00:27:31] I've read much Helsing but um they really made me think that Abraham van Helsing was like this

[00:27:36] super badass like vampire hunter he's just like a duck he's just an old guy he's just a Dutch doctor

[00:27:44] well I think the I think the um the Gary Oldman one with Anthony Hopkins as van Helsing does him

[00:27:50] pretty well oh van piers yes I so I need to see that the way you talk about it it seems

[00:27:59] fucking ridiculous you will watch it and have no clue what the fuck you just watched or how anybody

[00:28:05] came up with it I highly recommend it Helsing's on YouTube if you want to check it out and by the way

[00:28:11] listener uh listen to mission ignition the podcast where I talk about that series oh I'll plug

[00:28:16] a little early you can find it anywhere you podcast whatever David would get mad if I didn't say

[00:28:22] that he's gotten mad at me for not saying that so I've been reading yours cruelly Elvira it's um

[00:28:28] because I'm a Peterson Nelson as Elvira's memoirs and I would honestly love to see more memoirs

[00:28:35] more biographies more autobiographies with an illustrated adaptation oh that'd be cool

[00:28:39] because that honestly I feel would be a great way to help bring people more into an appreciation of it

[00:28:46] I'm sure there's a limited number of them in manga I haven't encountered any and honestly I think if

[00:28:50] there are some they need to be bigger there needs to be more of a push to get them out there

[00:28:54] because these are people's real stories that need to be heard yeah no I agree um there was a really

[00:29:00] good kind of example of that I read I read a bit of I should read more called my lesbian experience

[00:29:06] with loneliness where it was just this uh this woman uh writing about it's a manga is really well done

[00:29:13] just writing about what it's like to be a lesbian in Japan and struggle with uh severe loneliness

[00:29:19] really good so I agree like biography biographical manga I'd love to see more of that oh yeah and

[00:29:25] um finally from Travaga Wolfwood what is the worst video game you have ever played okay so picture

[00:29:32] this it's middle school I mentioned last time man I love Mega Man I really love Mega Man my

[00:29:39] email for years was Mega Maniac and then one day my friend gives me uh gives me like a a birthday

[00:29:45] president like an elite birthday present and I open it and Dylan it's Mega Man X7 oh that game

[00:29:53] fucking sucks that is a stunningly bad game which if you don't know that was their effort that

[00:29:59] was their attempt to make turn Mega Man X into a 3d platformer but according to them the actual

[00:30:06] way that KG in a fune approached this was well we didn't have to change anything just make it play

[00:30:11] like a 2d platformer in 3d hey that doesn't work oh no oh that sounds terrible it's a

[00:30:17] trotious and it's even worse they ran out of ideas there's a one of the mavericks his name tornado

[00:30:23] tonyan and he's just an onion and you don't get to play as X until halfway through the game white

[00:30:29] but yeah but it is Mega Man X but what did you how do what the why who they introduced a new

[00:30:37] character that you could play as named Axel got it memorized who I've heard him described as the

[00:30:42] silver the hedgehog of Mega Man where he's not a bad character but he was introduced in the worst

[00:30:48] possible game I feel like I'd rather play Mega Man DOS there was a DOS adaptation okay Mega

[00:30:54] Man DOS is fascinating because it was made by this one guy on like his off time and when he quit

[00:31:00] Capcom he went up to his boss his I guess his former bosses and was like by the way I made this

[00:31:05] game on my off time would you like to publish it and they're like yes sure so it's basically an

[00:31:09] officially licensed Mega Man fan game it is terrible but it's also like I mean it was made by one guy

[00:31:15] again in his free time so like he can't really get mad at it it's kind of impressive in that

[00:31:20] regard but it's terrible like it is hilarious and hilariously bad like I would look it up it's

[00:31:25] really funny I'll keep that in mind um for me the worst game I have ever played I can't

[00:31:31] remember the full title of it but there was a time when my then girlfriend and I were

[00:31:35] pajama Sam of course spy fox classic we moved on to grim fan dango and classic some of the other

[00:31:44] you know the LucasArts point and clicks those are so damn fun monkey island inside oh yeah

[00:31:48] and then we played most from at that point we wanted to try something completely different

[00:31:52] and I saw a indie point and click adventure that is an adaptation of the Odyssey okay

[00:31:59] and I thought wow that is fascinating I want to see how they actually approach all of this

[00:32:04] that could be good that could be good like that's not a bad pitch for a point and click adventure

[00:32:09] it takes place before it like it starts before even the start of the Trojan War and then it's

[00:32:13] the entire thing it's apparently one of the largest it was one the largest point and click project

[00:32:19] out there oh god the art was very it was you know pixel art very pixel art but in the style of

[00:32:28] creation earns but with color so it was that style of character just with color going around

[00:32:34] visually it was really cool yeah it had a problem what after reading through puns and tons of typos

[00:32:41] and trying to find walkthroughs no one there were no steam reviews there were no walkthroughs

[00:32:45] there was nothing available in this damn game oh fuck there was a broken text box that it like

[00:32:52] it was supposed to be maybe 20 minutes into the game this was after hours of trying no there was

[00:32:57] a broken text box that anytime you needed to speak you needed to speak to this statue of I believe it

[00:33:03] was her you needed to talk to the statue anytime you would click on it it would open as a text box

[00:33:09] it had voice over for everything her voice would start playing the text box wouldn't progress oh god

[00:33:14] so just no when she stopped talking I'd hit next nothing would happen that seems like one of those

[00:33:20] like evil old school DRM things they would put it out like yeah it was honestly the style was great

[00:33:28] the premise was great the execution was some of the worst and most bug-ridden stuff I had ever

[00:33:34] experienced unfortunately and uninstalling reinstalling nothing fixed it I was unable to progress

[00:33:40] past that point after hours of effort which was super early in the entire you know prospect of

[00:33:47] that's a shame too because it doesn't even sound like it's like the developers fault or at the very

[00:33:53] least like like it's not a bad game it's just a broken game exactly which is such a shame because if

[00:34:00] unfortunately that they it spoiled it I was unable to play the game I couldn't I was the only

[00:34:05] person to leave a steam review and it was a negative review that I was giving so much constructive

[00:34:11] feedback but saying I can't recommend this to anyone the developer never responded I don't know if

[00:34:16] it's still on steam but it was it was a bad time that's just sad but yeah all right well that's

[00:34:22] all the questions we have for today Dylan thank you so much for filling in for David and thank you
